And I want to thank him ahead of time for letting my son and his friend go hog hunting.

Not many folks are willing to give them an opportunity like that.

Hog eradication

and this is the video of the hog he asked I post the pic of before.

And I have to ask, smile were you worried he'd get up after that many rounds?

After watching I took my son and his friend who will soon get a chance to hog hunt, and made dang sure they knew where to place a round.

AND..you gotta give them time to figure out they're dead. smile

That boy in the video happens to be me so what about it doesn't meet your standards and what credentials do you have?

Funny that folks where weren't there have no clue but quick to judge. Let's see your one shot pig kills tough guy.

I haven't watched the vids, but those tough hogs don't act like they are gonna die, even with multiple well placed shots. They will stay standing and in the fight until the last drop of blood spills from their filthy body.

Since you asked, here's some one shot wonders. The internet badasses need to get off your ass. I know firsthand how hard them suckers are to kill sometimes, I dumped 5 rounds from my XD.40 into one that was wounded last year. He didn't stop until i hit him square between the eyes....It's easy to shoot a moving hog between the eyes for everyone but you and me I suppose.

I watched a friend empty a .40 caliber glock mag into a boar at 5-6 yards one time. I still had to finish him with buckshot, and he took it pretty well.

Now here is the secret I did not tell regarding the big boar I shot with the 357..

I had 38 special ammo in it. I'm quite sure had I been using 357 ammo it would have only taken two to the noggin versus 4 or 6.

After this evenings outing I'm convinced they are the toughest animal in North America. I unloaded 9 pellets of buckshot in to the neck of a wounded boar at 4', when I accidentally nearly stepped on him bedded up in a creek. I thought he had expired, tried to roll him over to see where the first two .223 rounds entered, and the dang thing blinked, rolled over, and the fight was on. He was quickly dispatched with a .223 to the eye socket after that. He took two shots from a .223 62 grain Barnes, and a round of buckshot (to the head/neck). That only temporarily put him out, and he finally went down with a .223 to the eye socket. Tough!

TC, I shot him at near point blank range. I would think buckshot would do it at close range, although I agree that buckshot isn't enough on a large boar for longer shots.

I've been taking our sks with us every time we go in the woods. Wouldn't think there would be much issue with it dropping one. I finally got both feeders working. Now we are going to help modify the traps to keep the little ones from going through the openings without setting off the trap.

I shot a 140 sow at 20 yrds with a 150gr 7mm mag and had to use a second shot to the shoulder to keep it down. True, the fact is the bullet only made two small holes at that short distance and the round never mushroomed up that close. I'm just saying that even well placed shots with high powered weapkns don't always go as planned.

This is why I prefer a couple of gritty curs a bull dog and a knife. Cause let's face it bullets are getting way to expensive to have to empty a gun to kill a pig. Haha
