I sure wish I was off this weekend instead of working. Dad killed on yesterday and one this morning on our place. He says they arent heated up good yet, but he heard 5 or six birds this morning from one spot.

I heard a couple gobble this morning and was able to get within 100 yards of one on the limb. He answered me a couple of times and I felt good about the set up. Heard some walking in the draw below me and 4 hens marched right to the base of his tree. He pitched straight down out of the tree and the hens carried him off! His days are numbered... I hope! wink

I missed one this morning...

It was a snap shot spinning almost all the way to my right and shooting uphill. Tough shot, but maybe I'll catch up to him again soon.

Well guys, same story different day. Got set up on one but he had hens roosted all around him and they carried him away. I heard 3 birds this morning but between all of them they only gobbled 10 times. I need to find a lonely one!

I had a bird get semi fired up this morning about 7:30 when some crows started making racket. He gobbled probably 20 times in about an hour and a half. I was able to get within 200 yards of him but then it started raining pretty good and he shut up. cry dadgum birds!

Great Job Teamduckdown. I have hunted hard and should have 2 on the board. Friday and Saturday morning I was within 75 yards of a gobbler on the roost. The one Friday walked right in front of me but my buddy was closer and but he couldn't get a shot off. Bad communication. Saturday same scenario but he flies down and goes the other way. We get up to get around him and he was not going away he had dropped down in the bottom and was coming up the other side and he busted us. Stupid decision. #1 is being very difficult!

I hear you team duck down. Man I had an awesome hunt saturday. Got in the game with 3 differnt birds from daylight to 2:30. Got cutoff by hens on 2 within 100yds. Had the other pulled a slick move and I thought he had walked away from me with a hen and gotten quiet. I got too agressive and was going to try and crawl a little closer. I didnt make 10ft and looked up and saw a red head about 70yds away. As soon as I saw him he saw me. I felt like a freakin idiot when he walked off. Been 5yrs since I bumped a bird coming in. Non-the-less it was a great day to be in the woods. Other than screwing up I drove home with a smile on my face. My wife is going out of town this weekend pretty much killing my chances of going back for atleast 2 weeks. We need to get some more points on the board.

Well had a good day just came up empty handed. Called 9 jakes into 10 yards right off the roost while 3 gobs stayed back 100 yards or so in the fog. Their hens finally led them away, I circled in front of them 4 times but just could never seal the deal. Still a great opening day getting to watch turkeys strut and gobble.
