Anyone know anyone with a hog problem near Gadsden or surrounding areas with some land that they will allow me to hunt hogs on? Wanting to start and haven't been hunting that long. Mainly small game and coyote. Or anyone willing to take a guy under their wing and show him the ropes? I really am interested in hogs for some reason. I use a bow or shotgun for all my hunting if that is helpful information for anyone.

Only ones I know of close to Gadsden are in Ballplay (close to Hokes Bluff) and I have heard of some in Cleburne Co not far from Piedmont. But I don't know anyone personally that has um on their land.

The hog population in ball play is very thin now a days and I believe your talking about borden springs when you refer to cleburne co. There was alot of hogs in that area several years ago but the locals put a hurting on them trapping and spotlighting. What they didn't kill I believe was pushed into the management area.

Yeah choccolloco, you have to hunt with whatever weapon is in season. For example a .22 for squirrel after deer season is over. They complain about them taking over but restrict hunting them.Info for hunting them is on the season map, permit. There is a hunt that you can use deer rifles march 1-5. Theres a concentration of them between co rds 548 and 549

The map rules and regulations don't make it to clear on the rules as far as archery or shotgun. Does anyone have any information on where I can find more specifics or who I can call? As I stated I don't use a rifle. Don't even own anything larger than a 22. I just really want to get started hunting hogs and looking for any help possible. I thank you for your time and answers, they help more than yall know.

Shotgun you can use #4 shot or smaller, rifles .22 cal or smaller, muzzle loaders .40cal or smaller or rifles operated by air. It lists the weapons you can use, doesnt say anything about archery. You can contact Brandon Howell@ 256 435 5422, The hunt march 1-5 you can use archery.

Yeah I finally found that information on there. Having to read small print on my phone screen sucks. But thank you for the contact info. I really only use a bow for anything other than early season small game or the occasional turkey. Fell in love with archery after using it for backyard target and have used it for everything from deer to squirrel. Even took a rattlesnake out of the backyard with it last spring.

I like archery too esp early deer season with not as much hunting pressure. They should allow archery to take hogs all year in WMAs.

If you don't have any luck on chocolocca you might wanna try lowndes wma. Way more hogs but longer drive.
