I have not had any luck with these things. Has anybody? If so can someone give me some tips on what, when, and how to use them.

I sparringly use Tinks 69.

I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

I hear some people say they use it and kill a lot of deer using scent,I on the other hand have never used it much, and when I did had no success. I just never figured out how to put it out down wind and have deer smell it without smelling me.I aint saying it don't work, but commercial scent is old and in my opinion,it has already gone to ammonia. If you could get some fresh scent, and put it on a drag rag you may have some success.

I would rather be turkey hunting

thanks for the replies. That's one of my main problems. How do you put it out down wind without them smelling you.

I've heard of running a drag line in a figure 8 of your hunting area if you are able. That way if a deer crosses the path and picks up on it and follows then at some point he will come past your stand. Dragging it from A-B opens up the chance he follows it in the wrong direction. Just stay as scent free as possible when laying down the scent trail. If he is smelling the scent I doubt any minor human scent will deter him is he is going to come.

James Valley scrape gel is the only lure I've used that I've never had a negative reaction from. I know a lure is not gonna bring them in on a string every time , but it damn well better not run one off!
I'm not a big lure user, I like getting in among the real thing and hangin' on.
I am experimenting with another brand this year that looks good but the jury is still out. I'll know more about it in a couple weeks.
