I'm heading down for 5 days next week. Anyone hunting around Marion, AL Perry County? Looking for some updates

Mighty slow around my place. I saw 2 does this weekend and that was it. My son-in-law saw nothing. The December Doldrums are definitely here. Things will start to pick up in 2 weeks, and a month from now will be the peak of the rut.

I hunt just south of Marion on the Perry county line. I agree with pcp. They will blow wide open in 3 weeks to a month.

Very nice, calm morning just west of marion. Nothing so far this morning. I saw 5 does, a spike and a small bobcat yesterday afternoon. Will kept you updated. I'll be here until Sunday.

slippinlipjr, I hunt in marengo County where Perry, Hale, Marengo, and Dallas counties all join together. In your opinion what is the best time to hunt in January if you could hunt one week straight ? thanks

14-18th is when I'll be up there. I've seen chasing as early as the 4th and as late as the 22nd. Everyone I talk to seems to think it will be a tad early this year from what they are seeing. If you had a week to take off and hunt, I'd go the 7th-11th. Good luck.

The last week in january up there was dead as a hammer, no deer movement.

Hey there some good action this morning. There was defintely bucks chasing does. I saw 18 deer between 8-9:30. A 4 pt was chasing everything. The 4 ended up grazin and a nice buck stepped out for just a second at 160 yards. Ten minutes later he was right behing a doe crossing the powerline at 250 yds. This deer was a shooter. I hophope he back out.

Talked to a guy today that saw 3 bucks together last Saturday. He said there are a few small scrapes showing up but small. He hunts in Alberta
