My son shot a doe this past week with the Rage 2blade expandable at 32 yards. He hit her quartering away right behind the shoulder, however the arrow did not pass thru. It hit her front right shoulder and stopped right there.

We found a small of blood where she exited the plot and must have stopped for second. After that nothing. Not a drop of blood.

We fanned out and started zig zagging in a two man pattern and luckily found the doe almost 120 yards from where he had shot her, with the arrow still in her. The blades were totally mangled.

Granted it left a gaping hole where it went it, but without a pass thru, recovery can be difficult. I will continue shooting my Slick Tricks.

I've never hunted with a Rage so I can't say anything about them. But as for muzzy's, I have hunted with them for years and I'll say this: They do the job and leave a great blood trail. And, if they don't shoot well out of your bow it's because your equipment isn't tuned correctly; it ain't the broadheads fault.

If you shoot Rages, go to the auto parts and get you some O-rings the same diameter as the stock ones. These are a lil thicker and will help keep them from opening so easy.

I've killed a pile of deer with Muzzy but have shot three with a Rage this year. I had one pass thru but found all three easily (within 30 yards). I do agree that without a pass thru blood trailing can be difficult.

I've shot Muzzy my whole life but bought a pack of Rage this year just to try 'em out. I've killed three deer with them and had only one pass thru. Despite poor penetration and a scarce blood trail I've found all of the deer within 30 yards.

WIth Rage you have to shoot a minimum speed. At 25 to 30 yards on an Illinois deer, shooting a Matthews XT LD, arrow went through the shoulder brisket and other shoulder. Deer went maybe 5 steps. Also shot one at 6 steps in the throat, went maybe 10 steps. Haven't shot one at major distance but maybe THAT WILL CHANGE.

Life has its ups and downs, just make the most of the ups and learn from the downs.
