I always used the retriever reels made by ams. But I think the spincast reels are better for faster retrieval. Just dont forget to push the button or you will lose some arrows.

This is what I used. I havent been in a year or so.

I could tell you where one is located at the bottom on the TN river over by point mallard attached to a bow if you got the scuba gear. laugh

I haven't been in a couple of years but I started with a spincast reel and then I got a retriever reel. I like the retriever reel a lot better. Although I found it easier to lay the bow down with bigger fish and pull them in by hand. IMO

I have both an AMS and a regular closed face. I prefer the closed face.

With the AMS you have to keep the trigger pressed or the line will come out when reeling. With the closed face you can stop and have a hand available if you let go of the handle without worrying about the line coming back out.
