Looks like they are putting a top class together for 2013. I read where they are tied with USC for the most 5 stars committed with 3 each and there are only a total of 16 5 stars in the nation. Looks like the new coordinators are pulling their weight on the recruiting trail.

No, I read it on one of the news sites on my phone. Probably, al.com. For someone who is an AU fan you sure have seemed put off anytime anyone post anything positive about them, lately. You are an AU fan, right?

Yes I am bill, fan of both teams, nothing would be better than an undefeated Iron Bowl.

How did my response sound put off? You are generally one of the most anti-recruiting posters on the forum. I was just making an observation.

They are putting together a very nice class, with a little luck there is a possibility of(5) five stars, in this class! One being from Georgia that is very possible to flip and with one that is currently committed as 6.0 (4) star! Definitely needed a great Defensive class and have gotten it!

...back on topic, Auburn is doing a great job at recruiting again this year like they have each year in the post Tubberville era. What sets this year apart from the past few years is the fact that they are getting it done a lot earlier as opposed to waiting until signing day. I hope Alabama and Auburn sign the 1a and 1b classes this year and keep the State of Alabama domination of College football rolling.

Sure is a long time till February and signing day. Im sure however AU season unfolds will play into some of the kids final decision on that day. Im sure the same will go for Bama recruits as well.

I think some merit should be given to the promise of playing time at AU versus UA. That concept is at least my perception of the current situation. It aligns with the cyclical nature of recruiting and a team's success. Over time, it becomes more difficult to pull in the top tier of talent. CNS has it at a pretty consistent level that is seemingly sustainable. Top 5 classes would work given the machine he has in place.

We could have the whole discussion of paying players or whatever, but it is essentially a moot point.

The thing that doesn't really add up about Auburn's recruiting though is this: if they have done such a great job in the post Tuberville era; why are they still so low on numbers and why do they have so much playing time to offer freshmen?

Exactly. When a coach has been somewhere 4 years he can't keep calling his team young unless he is bringing in players that can't make the grades or won't behave. There's no excuse for not getting some of the younger guys valuable playing time in some of the asswhippings they took last year.

I would say the young excuse has run its course. Progress needs to be shown this year.

They did...........they were starters last year. Auburn started more freshmen than anyone last year. Lots of Soph's too. Should pay off soon. Auburn has a young team because their junior and senior classes are smaller than normal from a variety of reasons. They will most likely only sign around 20 or 21 incoming freshmen for this class because of that. After playing the last 2 or 3 seasons with 70 or 75 scholorship players the depth problems should be gone as well after this year. Watch out in 2013 !!!!

I just took a look at the Rivals ratings and AU is 7th ahead of Bama in 8th place. AU has 3 five star and 3 four star committments while Bama has 0 five star and 10 four star committments. It'll be intersting to see how it unfolds once the season gets going.

Here's to an undefeated Iron Bowl...
