Yekrut is confessing that he is a sinner to the chufa patch!! Lol!! Doubt it would grow to well up here in the rocks and chert dirt of north Alabama and tn. I have only ever seen one field and it was in florida about 10 years ago on public land.

Chufas is cheating I only wish that were true. I'd be more than happy to set up on a chufa patch this morning and shoot him when he walks out there. Instead, I'm headed to the Coosa WMA to hunt a turkey that is crazy. I plant about 5 acres each year. Most of the past few years have been total failures due to lack of rain. But I'll try again; I love to watch them grow, and they will keep a bunch of turkeys on the place all winter if they make.

How many pounds per acres does it take? Cost per pound? I have thought about it, but not sure if it is worth the time and money. I only have a few birds travel through every now and then, would it be worth it?

I plant in late June or early July. The biggest problem I have is weeds since it isn't Roundup ready. I get my land ready and let all the weeds come up and hit it with Roundup. As soon as it starts to turn good I plant. I think you could probably spray them with a light mix of roundup since it's hard to kill nutgrass anyway and Chufas are nothing but a fancy variety of nutgrass anyway. The sandy land I have is perfect for nutgrass and produces well and the turkey love it.

I don't know how expensive it is.

I've had my best luck using Command as the PRE. And I'd much rather use Prowl over Treflan.

For Command or Prowl, just spray it on the ground after it is planted. Treflan has to be disced in.
