It's a game to keep the little guys and small players out of the mix. Most small companies simply do not have the manpower to handle it or paperwork expertise to be able to jump through all the required hoops to make it happen. That leaves more $$$ for the big corporations to divy up amongst themselves since they have tons of paper pushers and minions to handle what you're trying to work through.

Yes they do. Try dealing with NASA. If we ever get in another WW2 scenario, I don't think we'll be able to compete with another country to produce the amount of products needed to win a war because of the red tape.

Absolutely they do. And if somebody in a typical DoD government cube-farm pisses off the middle management of the cube farm that person gets to do the new paperwork that they have not even approved to be added to the stack of the required paperwork because of the Federal Paperwork Reduction Act.

You should have seen the hoops we had to jump through to lease an office to the Army. If you are a female minority, the GOVERNMENT wants to pay your business.

So how did you convince them that you are a female minority? That is useful information.

We didn't, but those were the easier questions I had to answer every year on the SAR's website. They would ask questions like what was our cage code. Who the heck comes up with this crap? Then I had to go to some other website and look and thousands of cage codes and try to find one that worked. Then it would ask other questions.

I was like, who the heck knows. And good lord, the person who had to approve leases, dang it changes like every 6 months. You email them, and get nothing. Call, get nothing. It took forever to track down a live person. And its not like you can just walk up in an Army office. Oh no, not anymore. You need cred's.

So when you have a doc that doesn't want to do medicare, I get it. When you wonder why the VA sucks, I get it. Nothing the government touches becomes an easy process.

Yes, there’s always people adding layers of bureaucracy to justify their job. The most inefficient process in the world is the federal acquisition regulations

It is so bad that many businesses have stopped doing any kind of government business cause the paperwork significantly cuts away enough margin to make it not worth it. One of the first applications Apple, Google, Microsoft, Elon Musk companies, etc...have done with AI is to dedicate AI energy towards handling government paperwork. They have gotten pretty good at it, so now they are able to cut out hundreds of non-productive positions. They made a lot of money figuring out how to reduce the number of people required to deal with the government.

It aint no worse than some of the bigger companies and all the different invoicing systems. This thread is making up my mind to walk away from a GE plc job at Arnold.

I was bidding a job for the Corps of Engineers the other day, and the off the wall insurance you had to carry cost more than the value of the contract. It’s crazy what some of those federal contracts have in them.

The trick is to find the right person in the government who knows how to either answer those questions or tell you what the work-around is.

I don’t even think they check it unless they need a reason to deny you the contract.

I told one the other day with pride that I had 5 mil covered, she laughed and said they required 20mil. I was shocked.

There's alot of posts here bitching about the govt. You aren't the govt. And what is the issue with the companies you are trying to do business with? Sorry, just not understanding the OP and the Post Title.

I tried bidding work on the Arsenal years ago. It just wasn’t worth it to me.
