That has kickback $ to a state rep. or senator or high ranking military official written all over it. The levels of incompetence and corruption in our federal government is appalling.
that bag of bushing would still probably costed 45K if they bought it from the FAA compliant commercial parts. IF the FAA even allows them to use anything other than OEM parts in the turbine.
They won't be from China. That being said, the paper work, material, tolerances, ass hats you have to deal with probably all play a role in the cost of those bushings. It's unphucking real, the BS you have to jump through to specify anything to the DOD or Aerospace industry.
I was dealing with a DOD company once, about 7 years ago, that involved gluing a rubber we'll say "Holder" onto a cart. The adhesive that was specified by the Air Force some 50yrs ago, was no longer commercially available because of the raw materials being so difficult to source to make the adhesive. You could literally go to Walmart and use a Cyanoacrylate (Superglue) off the shelf and have the perfect adhesive for the application, but they were unable to spec in a different adhesive. So they paid and astronomical amount of money, on an adhesive that had almost no shelf life, had lead times that were crazy and didn't perform anywhere near as well as your standard off the shelf superglue.

even just FAA parts have a list of paperwork for them. Them bushing for instance have paperwork going back to when and where it was mined out of the ground. And everyone who worked on it or inspected it along the way. I doubt those parts in that bag would even be usable after the politician brought them back. Now add DOD into the mix.
Yeah I couldn’t watch the Video. Was just Being Sarcastic. Because everything else in this World is Made in China.
That's pretty much the truth brother

How much money did the Pentagon admit that they couldn't account for the day a plane "myteriously" crashed into the Pentagon, and managed to hit the exact spot all the paperwork was stored?
I work with the DOD and FAA every day. The flow down requirements continue to grow every year. Most of the flow downs make sense but it seems to get more and more cumbersome which creates additional costs. Those costs all end up in the final cost of the product as we all know. We had a first article requirement on an item recently that was nearly 30k for the FAI. The item was only 12k. The OEM just generically flowed down the FAI because they do that. They didn’t really need the FAI. We see that all the time.
