I've had my Boxer for over 16 years she's been my sons dog for the past 8 or so years. She sleeps with him and goes pretty much everywhere he goes. We have noticed a significant change in the past six weeks she's lost co trim if her hind end and now she just lays in the floor in his room. I feel like she's had a stroke. When she does stand up she's standing g on her toes instead of her paws and usually only makes it a few steps before crashing. She still eats and drink's fine when you put it in front of her, but she makes no effort to move after eating or drinking. She is unresponsive when her name is called and I haven't heard a bark or anything in a few weeks.
I think she's given up. So we have an appointment at the vet at 4:00 today. Gonna be a tough weekend for us.

Those are tough days my friend; remember she is dependent on you to make the right decision. Be glad for having a good one.

Sorry for y'all but it sure sounds like she told you it's time.

Never was a dog person, but when my wife’s German Shepard died it was new game. I still hate under foot dogs.

Well a Boxer is more of a Stand on your foot type dog. All mine have always been the type to follow you everywhere. Literally sit outside the bathroom and whine until you come out. Kick out the lazy boy and they would all try to straddle your foot so you will rub their belly type. Extremely hard headed but the most comical and loving dog I've ever seen. I've had at least 1 boxer in my house for nearly 25 years... and sometimes I've had 3

I had mine for 16 yrs. Best thing that came out of my marriage/ divorce was getting him.
Mine at 16 was still as sharp as ever but his body had just given out.
I put it off for months hoping that hed peacefully pass in his sleep and save me from having to make that trip to the vet.
Eventually i knew it was time and had to take him.
Cant say ive ever felt as bad as i did that day even though i know it was the right thing to do.
Sorry your having to go thru this with yours.

Sorry you’re having to do this man, but I would do the same…I hate to see a good dog suffer.

Sorry to hear about your pup. There's a saying that a good dog will only break your heart once. None of the good ones live anywhere near long enough. Prayers to you and yours in this tough time.

I guess I’m fortunate that all the dogs I’ve had pass away did it naturally. Rough stuff. That’s why I don’t have one now.

Same here, except on Monday. He was a deer hound, but a damn good one and it was a hard decision to make.

My wife is a vet…I call her the death angel. She has had me twice go help put neighbors dog down with the last being my buddy’s Huntin lab. I’m not gonna lie I literally was sobbing during the process with the owners. It’s going to kill me when we have to do it to our golden some day. Prayers for you and the fam as it’s terrible

This ol gal was a hound too, she was a bluetick Beagle, but her and her partner (older than her) in crime which were both honey bun eating in house dogs is still with us lol
