Does anyone besides me remember the 70's tv commercial with Euell Gibbons? Its the 1st thing that comes to mind when I opened this thread.... If you’re a Baby Boomer or older, you probably remember Euell Gibbons’ Grape Nuts commercials. He was famous for his tagline, “Ever Eat a Pine Tree?” https://medium.com/the-haven/ever-eat-a-pine-tree-daefa41caea0 ........if you want to check out some of his work.....

Used to be a place in TN that boiled potatoes wrapped in aluminum foil in pine tar. Gave them a different taste but that was 50 years ago I may not be remembering right.

I think it's called turpentine Yes, they did make Pine syrup and still do for some oddball things, but its really just the pre-cursor to making turpentine. You can find turpentine stills all over the southeast.

Would never have searched for something on this if not for this post, but apparently there's a syrup made from green pine cones called mugulio. Sugar is added to make the syrup, but it looked interesting. Seems like there was a thread on this site once where someone bade a batch.

You can find turpentine stills all over the southeast. Every time I had ticks, cuts, burns, or chiggers my grandmother had to put Turpentine on it. Only thing I remember is that it burned on open wounds.

Guys that work at papermill told me that there are 27 different by products made out of pine sap . They squeeze it out to make paper . Sap is made into turpentine, glue an some kinds of chewing gum among other things
