My buddy was getting into his blind this morning and having trouble with the zipper. He turned his headlight on to see how to open it and was standing on this bastage. It was right next to his hand and face as he was fiddling with the zipper. He beat it to death with the biggest limb he could find. At least 100 yards from nearest water. That cotton mouth ain't one to fool around with. That may be about as close to being bitten as hell ever get . He's lucky Very. He said he almost went into a panic attack…he’s a surgeon and is money under pressure. But this morning shook him up something awful. He’s shocked he didn’t get popped on the arm, hand, or even the face. He said he was within 12 inches of him fooling around with that blind zipper. I think he’s already into some good bourbon at 3pm.

Reminds me of the time I was turkey hunting and dropped down on my hands and knees to climb under a limb to set up and came face to face with a rattlesnake shed. I about fainted.

Grew up in Fl. Hate cotton mouths. They are some nasty tempered jokers. Give me a rattle snake any day over them. Very nasty tempered. I've never seen any footage of snake handling churches with cottonmouths. Pick up one & you can all but certain get bitten.

Tempers aside, you’d much rather get hit by a cottonmouth than a rattler. Neither is desirable, but rattlers are nasty. ^^This^^ Rattlesnake bit ain’t no joke!

I don't care what kind of turkey is nearby or if one is nearby or if there's not a turkey within three miles, a moccasin or rattler is getting its head shot off with whatever shotgun I'm toting. Maybe twice.
