Anyone involved in it? I’ve always been interested and have started looking into getting a license and getting started. Seems like a WHOLE lot of conflicting info out there though. Anyone involved that can steer me in the right direction on getting started with an intro license and equipment? Thanks

The amateur technician license is easy enough to get. You'll need to go online and study for the test. Also consider GMRS. Its just a fee and no test. Many folks are getting into it.

I've got an amateur technician license and a GMRS license but use the GMRS mostly. There are typically a lot more amateur repeater choices for a given area but we have some good local GMRS repeaters too.

My former FIL had a HAM setup. Had recordings of the Guyana tragedy, calls for help, etc. It was a very impressive setup.
