I am not sure which is crazier. The hunters or the turkeys. Last week was awesome! Lots of gobbling and response to the call. Listened every morning this week and have yet to hear a turkey sound or see a turkey. If it wasn't for tracks, I would swear they all got killed last week. Turkey hunting is certainly an addiction but maybe a mental illness.

Over here on Cedar creek with Mrs Nightwatchman this morning. Dead as a door nail. Not a single gobble. Made our way over about 1/2 units we’ve been assigned. Now we’re back at the truck fooling around. Gonna cover the other 1/2 our unit here in a few.

Afraid i've spread the sickness to my 5 year old son. He woke me up at 2:30 this morning and asked if it was time to go turkey hunting yet. I told him to get his little white rear end back in the bed until I come wake him up. Walked out of my bedroom at 415 and he immediately started hollering "Now is it time to turkey hunt?!" It's a miracle he didn't wake his little brother and little sister up. Said he'd been awake since he came in our room. After all of that, we didn't hear a peep. Air heavy enough to wear in southeast Alabama.

Yeah my birthday bird was a clean miss this year. I like to say I practiced catch and release so I could kill him again later, but he disappeared 4 days later never to return. Those birthday birds mean more.

2 different turkeys solo gobbled in Bibb on the roost but wouldn’t cooperate. About 9 I had an errant gobble about 300 yrds away and he also would not respond. Pulled cameras getting ready to head to Illinois next week.

I looked at Illinois but the NR tag process looked to be a PITA. I've even got deer leases in Illinois with turkeys but the tag process was too painful. I recall there were five different draws and a tag was only good for a specific county. Leftover tags had to be purchased in person and could not be bought online. How can a non-resident buy a leftover tag in person other than driving up there and hoping they are are still available when you get there?
