Do you love your work? Two Januarys ago I turned in my resignation and went FT with my lawncare business.

1. The money is good.
2. I am my own boss.
3. I actually feel like I'm helping people.
4. Every weekend off.
5. Home every evening.
6. Work outside.
7. Take Winters off.
8. It's the kind of work that gives you a sense of accomplishment when finished.

I don’t mind my work but I don’t “love it”.

The answer to whether you love your job is really simple.

Would you continue to do your job if you weren’t compensated for it??

If the answer is “No”, then you don’t love your job.

I do things that I love to do for “free”, heck I usually have to pay to do them.

I loved working on airfields. 4,5and7 didn’t apply but I always enjoyed being at work.

I love what I do, but I wouldn’t do it for free. I’m money motivated.

Some days I do and some days I don’t.

It’s NOT 9-5 like most folks believe it is. I get calls at all hours, even weekends and holidays.

I get to help lots of folks.

I’m my own boss, been my own boss for 35 years. Being your own boss also makes you solely responsible for EVERYTHING.

Never work weekends.

Can take off pretty much whenever I want to, however, it’s always without pay.

Any job that you have you can make what you want of it. You have to be responsible, well disciplined and able to interact with the public in a positive manner if you want to be successful running a business on your own.

I like the organization I help but not the actual work I do. It provides me a good living with my family so I’m definitely not complaining. Just thankful the Lord allows me the opportunity.

We put Jet Fuel in airplanes and helos. I won't say i love it, but things could be worse.

I love the part of my job where I get to help people and making sure they feel safe. I really do not love the part with dealing with dumasses all the time. Hopefully when the new administration takes over in July, I’ll be transferred to full time Marine division and will no longer have to be on the road dealing with those people anymore.

I love doing what I do. I loved my first job I retired from. I'm a retired Firefighter. I didn't enjoy the paramedic work. But it was rewarding and I never had to worry about where my next meal would come from. It was stable and I felt appreciated by those we served (most of the time). I didn't always like some of the people I worked with or worked under. It's the same for any career field.

I do home inspections now. I have all the same benefits mentioned in the original post. I enjoy the work. I mostly enjoy the people. I feel like I'm helping those I inspect for. As with the other job, it has it's ups and downs. Some homes and people make me question why I do what I do at the level I do it at. Other times, it's very rewarding. I can say I was happier before some life changes made it required instead of optional.

When I first started inspecting it was preparing to have something to do after the fire service. I told my coworkers I'd be happy with 10 inspections a month. That quickly grew and we are now on track for about 1200+ inspections this year. It became more stressful when the foster landed in our laps. Now I had a purpose other than staying busy. Then my son came on board and the real stress started. Now I'm providing for myself, my wife, my daughter and my son. I can't just walk away. Then I added another employee. He has 5 kids. The stress level took another notch up. I've got two part timers. One I'm slowly giving up on. Another that's been difficult to get trained and on his own. I'm coming to peace with capping the growth soon. My son doesn't want the company. I'm planning on keeping it going until I can hand it to my daughter when she graduates high school. I'm working longer hours and harder hours than I planned on and that's the biggest impact on me. I want to cap at one inspection a day and provide inspections for the team. In a few years I'll start training my daughter to run the company as well as do inspections (if she wants). It will be a decent living for her if all she does is run the company. If she inspects, she will get a huge jump start on life right out of high school. I'll probably consult her until I die. I probably won't see a true day of real retirement, but that's the price of taking in a foster and adopting late in life. All that said, financially, I could retire and be comfortable but not in excess. But I'm not working for me and haven't been for a while. I enjoy the work, but the amount of it is slowly draining me.

I have several jobs. I love all of my hunting related jobs most of the time and would do them for free even if I didn't get paid.

I enjoy my W2 job but I wouldn't do it for free. (even though sometimes it is for free since I own the company)

I absolutely love sales, but it can be a real pain in the ass at times.

I like my job, but I don't LOVE it, it is a pain dealing with the public sometimes, and definitely a PITA dealing with government bs. Hopefully, only 4 more years, and I'm Done.

I worked many years to get to where I’m at. I have worked multiple different jobs prior to med school though enjoyed construction. The good Lord made me for this. I worked so many years paying money that by all means now I do not work for free except with friends/family if they need help within reason. I hated my engineering job but learned from it. The good Lord has delivered me through many highs and lows to shape me into who and what I am today.

I enjoy what I do...
Weekends off
No nights or holidays
Work my own schedule
My boss doesn't bother me
Make a very comfortable living

I dont deserve it..but the lord seems to take better care of me the older i get..i give him the credit…i did some hard things..an still do..but its gettin better all the time…its hard to see it sometimes..but we are very blessed..thank ye lord

I like what i do. I like the people i work with. I like the pay, benefits and work schedule.
I took a pay cut and lost a company vehicle and fully paid family insurance coverage when i left my last job.
But im not on call anymore. I dont have to work outside in all kinds of weather, and i was able to drop my blood pressure meds 3 months after i left the old job.

I did (for the most part) before the great reset of 2020. Cost of materials is insane, can't find no help, and when someone does show up, they're expecting 20 bucks and hour.
