I’ve had a Glock Model 20 Gen 3 for several years. So this past year I decided to put a reflex sight on it. Long story short, I gave it to my son and bought me a new Model 20 Gen 5 MOS and put a Holosun reflex sight on it. The gun is very accurate and from a solid rest I can group plenty good enough to shoot a whitetail much farther than I should be shooting one with a pistol. The new Gen 5 is supposed to have a nicer trigger than previous generations. It does feel slightly better, however, it’s nowhere near as good as the trigger on the Springfield XDM Elite 10mm. I just received my Springfield today and ordered a mounting plate for a Holosun to go on it. Hopefully I’ll have it mounted and shoot it sometime next week. If it shoots as good as the Glock I’ll probably hunt with it this year. The trigger is 100% better than the Glock trigger. The pistols are basically the same size.

What do you do for a solid rest shooting pistol? I switched back to a dot scope on a 10mm and while it’s good enough to kill a bad guy if need be I’d like to dial it in better than my shaky hands can do just freestanding. I use a “Y” shaped leather shooting bag filled with sand.

I use my rifle bench rest with a leather bag under the butt of the gun but a bit of advice, get a piece of leather to put on the cradle of the bench rest because sooner or later, you might shoot a revolver and the cylinder blast is pretty hard on whatever you have it rested on. I use a piece of an old welding jacket but a thrift store purse cut up with a razor knife will work too. Love me some handgun hunting in the thick stuff.
Remember: It aint what you shoot...it's how you shoot it.

Seriously I'd take that any day from 50. Especially with lead bullets!

I told you that you would like the XDM.
I looked hard at the Glock, but I was concerned it would batter my trigger finger like my G23 did. Also looked hard at the S&W because I thought the 4 in model would be perfect, but to many reliability complaints. Kinda wish I had gotten the 3.8 XDM now.
When I was getting mine sighted in, I just sat the butt off the pistol on the bench. That was ok for a standard 10mm, not so sure it would be with a full power like an Underwood. I like the trigger a lot better than my Glock trigger. I was shooting 200 grain hard cast loaded to Underwood velocities. They should shoot slap through a deer at 50 yards. I also have some 180 grain Hornady XTP’s that shoot @ 1,200 fps. Those are what I’ll be deer hunting with, they should shoot a tighter group than the ones in the photo.
