We did some odd fighting patterns in WWII but that was mostly for resource supply line fighting against Japan or Germany.
I can't recall where two countries are shooting over another country at each other, plus its actually multiple countries. Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq.

I have to research but I think by the time Germany fired V2 at Britain they had already invaded France and Belgium
Saddam launched at Israel as well, that wasn't a war though.
