First afternoon in public in Tennessee for me today, wish they’d let us hunt til dark in Alabama. Haven’t heard a gobble since 6:30 this morning but maybe one will come in silent. Light calling every 20 minutes and keep waiting. Winds starting to pick up

10 on 7000 acres and from the reports I got, not one gobble heard. Allegedly. 😉

I don’t know about y’all but the birds I’ve been working have been super henned up this year. I’ve gotten several pictures of gobblers sticking with their hens all hours of the day and evening. I keep thinking at some point they will break away but it hasn’t happened for me yet. I haven’t found one lonely and looking yet.

I’ve seen around my place with hens all day long, and then I’ve seen groups of gobblers still together some days…

I backed down the hill about 60 yards and got his hen fired up enough to come investigate. They got close, but my son said he didn’t have a clear shot. I trust his judgement. The dang thing pitched back up into a tree at 7:45 and strutted, gobbled, spit n drummed, and put on a heck of a display from 65’ above us in a 90’ pine tree. Never seen one do that before. His hen flew the creek and when she did, he dropped back down with her and wandered off gobbling his head off. Bet he gobbled between 150-200 times with a hen within 10-20 yards of him the entire time.

Once they hit the ground the first time, they fair game in my book!! I’ve seen a bird do that on a ridge. He would go from one end to the other gobbling and strutting on a limb… never did get to kill that bird

Seen it a time or two, figured those birds live on pine beetles as much time they spend on the limb.

I guess they are exactly alike when looking down the barrel. That's what mine looks like. I've seen it a lot 😂
