What shells or load is he shooting?
Are they handload Rolled crimped shells?

Are they handload Rolled crimped shells? Apex small town blend.

With handloads On some semi autos the hulls need to be trimmed prior to loading so they don’t hang up ejecting once the roll crimp opens after the shot.
Or shoot an alternative load with a shorter hull.
Apex are roll crimped handloads, probably Hal’s bigxl20 load, probably not trimmed hulls, I’ll bet that is the problem.
The big stubby 20 load is what I think some fellas I know are shooting out of a semi auto.

I shoot the bigxl20 out of my m-2. Never had a problem but I do trim the hulls slightly

I've never had a problem with Federal 3" Hevishot and TSS loads in my 20 gauge Benelli M2.
Maybe he should try a box.

Don’t think a Benelli won’t hang. I’ve got two Retay’s and have never had a problem with either one! Only have one Retay , but it’s now my go to gun !
