I went to pick up a rental car today. While I was in the office, there was a lady there with a young child, a little boy, perhaps 18 months old, if that. He was sitting on the counter and then she put him in his stroller. You can probably guess the rest, he fell out, hit his head on the floor, which wasn't carpeted, and the counter.

She just reaches down, picks him up by the arm, and drops him back in the stroller while he is obviously fussing, and then said, " I told you not to do that" which wasn't true, she never said a word to him. Eventually she picks him up and has him sitting on the counter again.

With a nice little bump on his head.

Poor fella.

She probably got dropped on her head numerous times as a child thus the mental deficiency.

If truly concerned, you could have offered to lend a hand. She obviously was overwhelmed and couldn’t handle her business and the child.

Well she appeared preggo and needed a rental car to go get her kids, but seemed to be experiencing some difficulty with the deposit.

And she wasn't overwhelmed, she was indifferent.

Yeah me and the Wife were fishing one day, and the youngest son was in his stroller, and his little azz wouldn't behave, and he ended up dumping the stroller over, and he popped his head on a rock, he was fine luckily (just small cut) but he didn't do that in the stroller no more 😏

Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

If she had gotten on to him and he proceeded to ignore what he was told and thumped his noggin and got an "I told you so" I would have not thought a thing about it because some kids are gonna push every dang boundary there is and "bought" lessons are better than "borrowed" ones, but the indifference would have bugged me pretty bad.

Um, ain't 18 months old a little young to be starting that tough love? I didn't pet my kids when they were growing up and they sure got their fair share of "learned a lesson" bumps, but I sure don't remember starting that when the child was 18 months old

Y’all try seeing a bunch of kids daily in office that are on Medicaid…half the rooms smell of weed or cigs, parents on drugs, kids looking like they’ve never had a bath, the list goes on. A lot of parents now a days or a lot of single mothers that should not have kids but have a pile of them getting that government check. Then you think DCS or an agency that will help get this innocent child out of these situations and even as a doctor with solid documentation of maternal drug abuse or even not feeding the child, they don’t pay any attention where they will follow up in a week or so with a “safety plan” etc.

I've heard story after story, my wife was a nurse for ADPH and was the clinic supervisor at the Jackson Co. Health Dept. before retiring. Some of the stuff she saw was truly sad. Over the years I guess she became "conditioned" to it.

It blows my mind every time a parent plops a child on one of our glass reel display cases.

I am afraid he doens't have a bright future unless he winds up with a good role model in his life. He sure was cute, and seemed like a kid with a sweet disposition.

It bothers me to see a parent just be indifferent like that, but it really disturbs me when I see a mother do it.

That age is probably a little young and it depends on what the actual situation is, but when our oldest granddaughter was a toddler she learned some lessons the hard way because she was super fast and willful. So sometimes she would hurt herself because she was faster than the adults trying to prevent the incident. You could tell her not to do something for the third time or she would get a spanking and she would look right at you while she did the thing she was just told not to do. She got some spankings, too. I hated following through on it but she eventually learned. Part of her issue is that she is super independent and does not want help doing things unless she asks for it. She just turned 7 and is pretty well behaved now.
