I would find somebody to fix it. You're better off with the gasket being blown on the exhaust side than coolant being dumped into the engine. If you haven't run it hot, it will be ok. I’ve tried calling multiple mechanics up here and no one will touch just the head gasket. Nah I have not run it hot…it’s been parked out front since it started acting up. I’m here in Jackson Tennessee but am moving back to bama- Florence area in a couple of months. DK Automotive in Huntsville has a well deserved reputation. He's done work on two of my old 'yotas, including head gasket & timing belt replacement on my 99 Tacoma w' the 3.4L V6. If it matters my Taco probably had 200K on it when they last worked on it. Ask to speak to Darren if you call
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...

DK stands for Donnie Knight or something similar. Then again, maybe that guy retired & sold the biz.... edited to add: Correct name is/was Donnie. Google search suggests the business was sold a few months ago, but they still are operating as DK Automotive, specializing in Toyota & Lexus.

It's a sad day when you can't get someone to replace a head gasket that's pretty much just basic engine work.
Most mechanics today want to replace a sensor and send you on your way with a $1k bill. I'd put some effort into finding someone that knows how to turn a wrench. Should be able to replace the entire head I just did one on a Toyota truck and it cost less than $1k for the parts brand new head + gasket and replaced the studs while I had it apart.
No government employees were harmed in the making of this mess.

Mechanics don't want to change head gaskets because it's a liability and gamble. The deck could be warped on the block. The heads could be warped. You're opening up a can of worms. The truck is worn out. Shop charges you to fix it then on the test drive they discover it's not fixed because the block deck is cracked or warped. Then the customer thinks they got screwed. The shop gets screwed. It's a possible can of worms. Don't gamble. Do it right and fix the entire engine by replacing it. 325k is too many miles to just do a head gasket change. Like putting lipstick on a pig.
