Thinking of buying a good inexpensive one for photography for our rental properties and for using around the hunting property. Thermal imaging is way too expensive right now, but it would be nice. I would want it to be able to move to a computer for editing, rental properties, and have the ability for good video. The hunting property would be for whatever I could come up with on the fly. I’m thinking less than 500.

Looks like the DJI website sells a Mini 3 for $469.

My thoughts are if you have never owned one by a cheap one for the learning curve then get a better one, probably what I am looking to do. Might cost a few more dollars but could be cheaper in the long run

I've been entertaining the thought of buying one as a retirement gift to myself. I want the follow me feature for when I'm in the boat. My plan is to use it when someone in the boat catches a fish, especially a large catfish.

I've got the DJI Mini 4. With extra batteries and the controller you are looking at around $1200. Well worth it. Easy to fly and photos and video are amazing.

Not sure what price range you are in but I purchased a DJI drone a few years back for around $1000 and it is very easy to learn and fly with built-in auto pilot to keep from crashing. In my limited experience, I would spend the extra money on a decent drone to learn to fly because of the built in safe guards. Cheaper drones are probably harder to fly and easier to crash.

I bought a Potensic SE on Amazon for a couple hundred $ as my first one. The camera is really good and it flies well however it does not have a 3-axis gimbal or collision detection. Compared to the price of name brand drones, it fine for me right now. https://youtu.be/38391PFvw1A?si=iomaEmUmjrG8TabF

Here is what I have. It has a two-axis gimbal. Nice drone, and fairly reasonable...especially with the additional $50 off coupon on Amazon. $236 with the coupon. Great beginner drone....

You may want to check the rules if you are using it for business. You will need an FAA 107 license.

After losing mine.... haha (my son did, not his fault - it went out of range and we couldn't find it.)

You want:
- As much range as you are willing to pay for.
- A drone that will "rehome" if it loses signal.
- camera resolution - they all seem pretty good today

To do those things you’ve said you need to get your 107 license. FYI

Mavic 2 SE will probably do what you want for under $300.

I can’t see them regulating me taking pics and vid’s of my own property. Then again, the ATF keeps overreaching too.
