Pretty sure I’m done fooling with selling used stuff to the general public. I may change my mind later on but I doubt it. Last December…4 MONTHS AGO, I sold an electrical motor, that was actually brand new, never used, sealed in the box, for half of what I paid for it. I had intended to ship it back to where I bought it from but let the return period expire before I got around to it. Met up with the buyer, made the transaction, no problem. Tonight, he texted me that he “finally got around to opening it up” and sends me a text that a couple of the bolt holes aren’t lining up as he is trying to put it together. He didn’t say what he wanted me to do about it but I’m guessing he wanted his money back. We’re only talking about $50.00. He never opened the box when he bought it, to check it out. Heck, I had never opened the box myself. Honestly, had the guy opened it a week or so after he bought it, I would have given him his money back if there is actually a problem. But 4 months later?? How do I know he just isn’t a moron and doesn’t know what he’s doing? He may be putting it together wrong. How do I know he hasn’t taken the motor I sold him out of the box and put something else in there on its place? He even told me it’s rode around in his truck seat for the last 4 months. Selling stuff with that low of a value just isn’t worth it anymore. I’d rather throw it away to keep from dealing with the hassle of fooling with people.

Sometimes a pawn shop is useful for clearing out stuff. You get rid it of it quick and you get some cash, not as much as you could have but at least you didnt have to deal with crap.

Ford, just tell everyone who buys from you that everything comes with a 5/50 warranty. 5 minutes, or 50 feet. Whichever comes first.

I have never had it not disappear. It's easier than trying to sell on marketplace. or elsewhere.

I sold a little 4 banger, 5 speed, base model Ford Ranger once, that was 7-8 years old when I sold it. It had well over 100k miles due to my long commute. Hence the reason I originally bought it. A full YEAR after the guy bought it, he contacted me to tell me the clutch went out. I was more hot tempered then and gave him an ear full.
