How did we get to the point where we have multiple federal agencies having the authority to arrest citizens? How can the ATF, FBI, IRS have the power to lock citizens up. It's crazy when you think about how our founders intended this country be run, with strong state and and a weak central authority. I believe all these agencies need to have there power castrated.


IMO all warrants and arrest should go through the local authorities. If the ATF has an issue they should get a warrant from a local judge and the local police should serve it. It just doesn't set well with me.

I am not a fan of the local sheriff either. That is a political office, and is thus, subject to corruption. Just take a look at Jefferson County, and I am not very impressed with Shelby either. There needs to be a civilian oversite board that monitors them. All with term limits to prevent corruption.

"Civilian oversite", theres a novel idea. I would imagine those folks would have the highest suicide rate of anyone in the country. If not the fastest growth of wealth. Could go either way. I figure at this point the corruption is unstoppable.

The problem is the entire system is corrupt. You get a ticket and walk into court, you are guilty until proven innocent. The cop can outright lie, and it doesn't matter. These political party people do the same thing. They all lie, and get away with it. The Bidens are busted cold on corruption, and nothing will happen. Hillary was busted cold, nothing happened. Hunter, cold busted on a federal gun charge. Think one of the Trump kids could have done that and not been swiftly prosecuted, with no deal?

The big diff is Trump has to pay to defend himself, these other folks, the system defended them on our dime. Heck the same guy who worked out the sweetheart deal for Hunter is the "independent counsel" looking into him. They purposefully let statutes of limitations expire. It's an illegal appt, and what has been done about it? ZIP.

The solution to this is to have a system where LEOs have no incentive to lie or give citations to people that didn't commit the offense.

While it is true that Sheriffs are political creatures in our state, along with Judges, at least with political offices, they can be voted out. My mind has often gone to thinking about a way to remove politics from law enforcement. Sadly, that is hard to do as even nonpolitical positions are appointed by politicians who usually expect, often demand, loyalty to them and their views. Been there, done that. BTW, it cost me further promotions and titles, but I sleep well at night, at least that doesn't keep me awake.

Yeah but they don't seem to get voted out, until people get really sick of them. There was a bunch came out about the Jeff Co sheriff last election. He is still there. It's like when a scandal comes out, and they don't lose the election, they double down and it gets even worse.
