Pwyse, How did the SOA hunt go? I killed one on the first morning and my buddy killed one on the last morning. We were on multiple turkeys every morning and heard multiple gobblers each morning. Weather helped a lot. Our area was mostly clear cut and young pines but there was some mature timber in a few places. We really thought we were going to be at a disadvantage since the clear cut was so big but the turkeys used it a good bit. It was just hard to get close to them on the roost since it was so open. I killed mine at 9:00 and he killed his at 8:30. It was a fun time. Awesome man! What areas did y’all have? Sorry doc I just saw this. We were hunting area 2 of the Little River SOA.

I was hunting on federal land this morning and came across this bend. I saw a tree and decided that would be a good spot to hit the call and I look around before stepping. I took one step towards the tree and all I heard was rattling going off. I took a step back and got out of there. No pic?? 😂🐍 I never saw it myself, lol. Just heard those rattles loud and clear. I'm thinking it must have been under the thin brush around the tree.

I was making my right turn this morning for the hunting area and caught a Gobbler strutting on the other side of the road, with two hens. I whipped the vehicle around and parked. Then I snuck into the woods trying to call them back my way. The area they went to was closed for the day. Should I hit that location tomorrow morning? This was around 8:15.

I've called up more turkeys this year than I have in the last 3 years combined. Unfortunately I was the shooter on only 2 of em. I'm going Tuesday to call for another guy. Hopefully 2 will come haha.
