My ex-wife was not much of a “cooker”. We were DINKs(double income no kids) and for many years it really was cheaper AND easier to just pick a mid place and eat out as often as not much of the year. That or bologna sammiches which she wouldn’t eat. In the current economy I’ve all but given up most “fast food” for a handful of sit-down places for lunch. The difference is about $5 and I’m much happier with my meals. I also have a woman in my life who’s a great cook and very good at stretching some groceries. We still have a decent Mexican place close and a good meal consisting of way more than rice and beans is still in the $35 range before margaritas.

Man I get raped on food costs because it's just me and my 11yr old boy. I cook often but when you're trying to get house projects done or maintenance, it's hard to cook and get anything done. I grow a garden and work 50hrs a week. I'm burned out of packing sandwhiches for work lunch. My kid won't eat them at school no matter which Board Head I buy. I need a good holiness woman to keep locked up at home to cook. American women my age take it as an insult to stay home and run the house and food. Man, I'd love to stay home like that. I mean, there's women out there like that but I haven't found any. Any under 150lbs 👀👀😂😂😂

Take lunch everyday. Not paying airport prices. Kid is easy pb&j everyday. I used to ask him son what’s for lunch. Pb&j. I quit asking.

I like Sam's pizza over all the chain pizza places and it's cheaper.

I haven’t had a pizza delivered in probably 22 to 25 years. I’d much rather pick it in store when it’s piping hot

I bought an Ooni pizza oven a few years ago and love it but to be fair made pretty good pies in my ceramic grill as well as in the oven. Getting a good dough is key. I’m kind of a pizza snob but over the last 30 some years Alabama has gotten some great pizza places but aint none of them the typical chains mentioned above. Those aint pizza just stuff to make a turd.

I don’t do thin crust but here is a recipe from the Ooni site where I got the regular recipe from. I use a stand mixer because my wife had one otherwise by hand is just fine. Let me know how it comes out I might try it too.

Publix sells pizza dough in the bakery. They even have a multigrain and a gluten free dough. I get the regular one. It is cheap and really good. I cook them on the big green egg or in the oven. We also make calzones with it and sometimes just a loaf of bread.

In all seriousness, how much should it cost for someone to cook a pizza, DRIVE it to you, AND make a profit? Can’t be cheap.

You make a good point.

Everybody wants to buy American, but no one wants to pay for it. This is why China has become a World power.

I could use a recipe for a good homemade thin crispy crust if you have one you will share. I have been using a store bought mix and just don't care for it.

Here’s what I have been using
6 oz’s water (90-100 degrees helps with the yeast)
2 tablespoons oil
2 cups flour (ap or bread)
1/2 teaspoons salt and sugar
2 teaspoons active dry yeast or 1 1/2 fast rise

Mix for 4-5 minutes, oil a bowl, put in, cover let rise 1 hour, knead couple minutes let rest 15-20 minutes, roll out, put on pan let rest again 20 minutes, put ingredients on and cook, been doing mine on the pit boss at 425-450 around 20-25 minutes till done, that’s good for about a 14” medium crust pizza

We eat out a LOT but we cook a lot too.
We like to eat….😄
Cedar landing in windfield will have you scratching your head and how well you can eat for a reasonable price. It’s like their menu is from 5-6 years ago.
Good food, good salad bar, great prices. It’s just a tad far for us to go very much.
