Last night I thought I would order a pizza. Kids are gone, its just me.

Go online to pizza hut. Speacial, large up the 3 toppings for 10.99. Right? Well there is a $4.99 delivery fee, and taxes. 10.99 is under the 11.99 amount needed for delivery, which means you have to buy something else. So I thought, oh I'll get some mini cinnamon rolls, that would he good. Another $7.99. Then there is the tip. So total was $31 to get an $11 pizza.

I said nope. I would have been good if they would have marked the pizza up a dollar, but then I get this is all a marketing and staffing issue too. I guess its why all the Walmart stores are layed out differently, so you have to spend more time looking for what you want and impulse buy.

I was watching the papa johns the other day, the amount of drivers coming in and going out delivering is unreal.

Eating out is killing the average American's budget. My grown kids where joking the other day about how they don't remember eating out as kids. We ate out only occasionally, maybe a chinese buffet after church or some taco bell after a late week baseball game.

My last two orders from Pizza Hut were delivered by Door dash. The drivers expected a tip in addition to what you already paid as a "driver tip" on the Pizza Hut website. And yes, that minimum delivery order $ amount is a killer.

Edit: seeing how expensive food is now, I can see why our wildlife has been wiped out in the past. When you cannot afford to buy groceries, you secure your own.

Then you factor in that eating that fast food is killing you. Its really not worth the cost then.

One of the many reasons that Mrs. Irish and I cook at home all the time.

We've learned how to make an entirely homemade pizza, by the way, that's better than any take out or dine in pizza. And it's not that hard.

There is a miss conception that eating out is cheaper than cooking at home. Could be in some special situations but that's is a lie.

We were just talking about increases in fast food and average dinning out.
Who can afford it any more other than occasionally.
Glad I like to cook. We average less than 1x a week out.

My kids school sold these cards that have about 20 local. discounts. One is the dominoes buy 1 large get 1 free (so 2 larges for $13). We get that about once a week, but it is also only good for carryout.

And then we haven't even started the discussion that Pizza Hut is the most horrid delivery pizza you could possible order!!

Some of the frozen pizza are better than PH, Domino's etc and cost way less. Stock up at Publix with BOGO sales and always keep a couple in the freezer for when I don't want to cook.

One of the few good things that came from covid is that my wife started doing the grocery pickup on either the publix app or walmart app. Its wonderful. Either Saturday or early Sunday morning we look at our schedules and plan our weekly meals, then she orders what we need for those meals, we don't buy nearly as much wasted stuff anymore and our grocery bills are noticeably less than pre-covid. We pick it up after we eat lunch after church and head home.

Plus, neither of us have been inside a Walmart in a long time.

I could use a recipe for a good homemade thin crispy crust if you have one you will share. I have been using a store bought mix and just don't care for it.

We try to keep our expenses at a certain level each month and dining out has put more pressure on our budget that any other category by far over the last 6 months. We just don't do it anymore. We cook good enough for it just not to make sense.

Our favorite Mexican restaurant we would frequent once a week we now go once a month or two. A plate of rice, beans and chicken (plain) went from $9 to $13, and drinks went from $1.79 to $2.99, plus tip and now you've gone from $13 all-in to $19. All for a plate of plain rice, beans, and grilled chicken.

They can keep it and I'll put a lasagna or chicken Alfredo dish in the oven before church and feed the family for $13.

We like the convenience I guess. Somehow my wife drops $300/week at walmart and Aldi and she still text me at least 3 nights a week and says she's picking up dinner. Usually Full Moon BBQ one night , Chinese another, and Hunts Brothers pizza one night. I eat breakfast out 6 days a week and lunch 5 days. I'd hate to add up what it equates to per week.

I complained to a Wal-Mart employee about them always moving the stock around and its never in the same place. Told him it was BS in nice way. His response was that's how they keep it fresh. What a load of crap!

Buy Boboli pizza crust from wal mart and your own ingredients. You will thank me. Better than any delivery pizza. And way cheaper.
