Could a cyberattack cause them to lose power? Maybe. It depends on if the boat controls are connected to the internet. I assume they are not because out at sea internet is sketchy on a good day.

Biden just held a presser. Strange he says it’s already been determined the cause and it there was nothing criminal. It’s just freaking happened a few hours ago. Damn they got a good investigative team. Better be watching that right hand of things going on while they have everyone focused on the left. I think that pdiddy deal has some names involved they may want to keep hidden. Pretty crazy the internet is talking about one or the other.

Its amazing to me that when a real accident happens...everybody blames the corrupt government for causing it or the try to find a way to show that it was not the government's fault this time cause most of the other big disasters are the government's fault. .

Looked like they knew ahead of time and had cleared it. If you zoom in on the twitter vid, Looks like 4 parked emergency vehicles, yellow lights flashing, on the span just to the right of where the ship hit. Report on news a few minutes ago. steering / propulsion or similar failure. crew able to declare emergency bridge traffic was blocked off prior road patch crew was working night shift. 6 per the article. Looking for them now Early reporting, subject to change

Could a cyberattack cause them to lose power? No. What does seem plausible is that they did not switch from ported resting power to travel power before heading out, Then the guy in the control room remembered to switch over and then it went bang-pop....

Every major port or river system that handles large ships uses Harbor Pilots. This is a system in use across the globe. Harbor Pilots have one job and that is to board a ship and help them navigate the port or river. They are highly paid and highly experienced. Port of Mobile and Port of New Orleans both use Harbor Pilots and it is a small tight knit group. This ship probably had a Harbor Pilot on board which would lead me to believe this was a mechanical, electrical or computer system failure. The ship was moving about 8 knots and a boat that big doesn’t stop or turn on a dime.

Yes Sir, that is very plausible. Reporter on the evening news reported, "It appears that traffic will have to be rerouted." You think?

And they make a pile of money.
