Any idea what was in it?
I used to work for a company that was part of the missile program of the 60's and 70's. There was a room where the missiles were x-rayed to make sure there were no voids in the structures. The room they were x-rayed in was solid lead from top to bottom. When this part of the program was abandoned, the room was scheduled to be torn down. Employees there ripped sheets of lead off the walls and took them home with them to make fishing lures. There was tons of lead hauled off by both employees and the demo employees. Management said to get all you want.
I can't stand a thief.

It’s solid except for the hole down the middle. It was a counter balance for a horizontal boring mill. I’ve got two other pieces of the counter balance that are solid steel. They are the same size as the lead and weigh about 50% less.
