My son’s girlfriend is 27 and a couple of weeks ago she was telling my wife and myself about a rash on her back and side. I told her it sounds like shingles. She said she had never had chickenpox but had had the vaccine for it. I just thought it was odd as I’ve never heard of someone as young as her having them. Doctor confirmed it as shingles

Me either. But it’s brutal no matter the age. Have several friends and family that has had shingles.

I didn't realize the body could produce the sensation of fire without their actually being fire until I had shingles.

My doctor feels that the chicken pox vaccine has created the rise in shingles among younger people. She didn't elaborate.

I got the vaccines shots after watching my poor momma suffer the last couple years. Her eye still has not fully healed and may never drive again. Been a very painful experience.

I've had shingles at 60, no vaccine since and at 73 I'll never take another vaccine.

So what's the general consensus on the shingles vaccine, get it or avoid it? My Dr asked me if I wanted it at my last visit and I declined. But the shingles sound horrible! Does the vaccine actually prevent shingles?

I had it around 5 years ago at age 41ish. Insurance wont pay for the shot till after age 50. Im usually with Fred not taking another vaccine but Shingles shot may be my exception. Shingles are rough and I only had a mild case on the back of my shoulder. Dont remember the meds they gave me but it cleared it up. Still got scars

Miserable, miserable experience...and I had a mild case.

Cousin had shingles when he was early 30's. Had an uncle that suffered with shingles for 2 years until he died with covid. I had a very small case about 6 years back, doc gave me some kind of meds and it cleared up in a couple weeks. My aunt now has a severe case and has suffered for the last 3 months. At 61 I decided to get the vax and will be getting the 2nd shot next month. This vax has been around for awhile, my aunt sure regrets not taking it.

I got the first part of the vaccine. Got shingles 2 weeks later. I didn’t get the second part

I took the vaccine after watching my mother n law suffer with it for months. She had it on the right side of her face including her eye. She suffered horribly and lost most of her vision in her eye. Definitely took the shots after watching her suffer immensely during that time. I highly recommend the shots.

shingles vax has only a small tracking device so it's ok to get

My wife has had it 4 times over the last 10 years and she will be 50 this week. She’s had it twice since taking the Covid vaccine. Her doctor told her they have had lots of cases of people having shingles come back after having the vaccine. Apparently it “awakens” the virus.

Had them when I was 17 and got them again at 44

My oldest son had them when he was 18.
