I don’t understand this crypto stuff at all. If it’s a digital currency, how does it only exist on this hard drive?

I don’t understand this crypto stuff at all. If it’s a digital currency, how does it only exist on this hard drive? Its encrypted data that can only be saved to one place. In this case, its the hard drive.

I don’t understand this crypto stuff at all. If it’s a digital currency, how does it only exist on this hard drive? You have cash you have it in your wallet. A crypto wallet is your digital wallet. The only thing that can unlock it is a 12 or 24 random word phrase that you memorize or write down and store it somewhere. Some folks will do download a wallet onto their computer and store there bitcoin there so nobody can take it. If someone threw away the harddrive with your wallet on it - its gone. It is the only way to protect your bitcoin where it cannot be hacked. Most keep a digital wallet online where you can log into it with the passphrase. The wallets are stored on a server, but no one can get access withiut your passphrase. A friend of my moms had a hard wallet offline and saved his password on the same computer. He took it to a repair shop to get it fixed back in 2021. When Bitcoin hit 35k, they decided to sell their 10 bitcoin to pay off their house and their wallet was empty. Someone could have hacked their computer or repair shop employee was dishonest. Most people that buy lots of bitcoin buy an encrypted thumb drive to download it on and then store it in a safety deposit box at a bank. You can take that thumbdrive anywhere in the world that has bitcoin on it and plug it into a computer with internet and sell it.

My simple mind just can’t get behind something I cannot understand
