I had to run to the local DG yesterday to get taco shells. The Self Checkout was "Out of Order." My son in law and I asked about it, the cashier said that they are starting to disable them all due to theft.

I wish all stores used her approach, and JWalker I wished they would shut all self checkouts down

Man she is bad Azz! good hit!

Then she let the next one with twice as much under his hoodie walk right out.

I walked into a location a couple weeks ago - no employee in sight - got 3 or 4 items - self checkout - walked out and never saw an employee. Only one other shopper in the place.

local DG had the self check out shut down today.

The one off highway 216 in McCalla was the same way

Why is that woman working at DG when she is such a promising prospect for the MMA?

The problem will be having enough employees to work in the store to keep people checked out and do all the other things that need doing if they are getting rid of the self-checkouts.

At DG the employee is a check out person, shelf stocker and cleanup. What I can’t stand is all the merchandise in the aisles. The one by the house always has the restroom out of order sign hanging on the door. I believe they do that so they don’t have to clean it as well. I know I was checking out one day an an elderly gentleman asked for the key to the restroom and the girl said neither were working and he told didn’t it. Said there you work an entire shift and don’t have a restroom to go to

Don’t think self checkout is the root cause of the theft

Tried it, lost too much money, reverting-the problem will be for those of us that “want to get in and out.” We will be stuck behind one cashier and people with buggies full of stuff. I don’t mind self checkout, it’s much easier for me.

The new DG down here has a serpentine-style buggy go through arrangement for the self checkout. It basically forces self-checkout folks to trap themselves in a boxed in spot. I guess being trapped and on camera cuts down on some theft.

I was in one earlier to grab some batteries and I hate going in them but said might as well. I see why theft is a problem cause the only woman working was in back stocking shelves and I had to go find her. Hell somebody could walk out with half the store unbelievable.

She’ll probably be fired after a lengthy HR investigation.

Got to get back to the Sam Walton mentality, if over 3 people are in a checkout line open another register even if a member of management has to run it
