I have just wiggled them and they work just fine other times I've had to replace them. That's one thing that never caused me a big problem working at a apartment complex

If I recall after we ran the line from the road, the pressure was in the 70's. It's good pressure which I don't want to lose, but didn't really think it was too high. Wouldn't I constantly have issues with it if it was too high pressure? I questioned the plumber on the expansion tank and he just gave me the bs about not being required that the valves have been working for years and he would put one on if I wanted just going to be more expense for me, blah, blah, blah. It’s gonna take a lot more than 70psi to set that valve off. Unless it’s gone weak. Has it still been spitting out water? Or did it stop?
The fool tells me his reasons; the wise man persuades me with my own.

Water hammer is a real thing. When I was in the fire service we tested hydrants. You had to turn each one on very very slowly and back off again just as slow. If you didn't, you'd damage homes all up and down the street. 70 psi operating pressure turned on too hard could absolutely cause water hammer enough to let a small amount of water from the pressure relief valve. Most are 180psi/210 degrees F.
Character is not developed in moments of temptation and trial. That is when it is intended to be used.
