Land of the free my ass. Local police are gonna hold you til they talk to NY. That could mean sitting in jail over the weekend next time a cop runs your license plate. What the man said. Try to get DL renewed or anything with the State and the felony warrant will show up.

My first question is how could you forget you had a firearm and leave it behind?
NY will probably put out a warrant for his arrest but it will not be a extraditable warrant. Which means he should never return to NY for any reason, which is really their goal. But the outstanding warrant will appear on his record. If it is a state felony warrant this could cause him problems in the future. I remember one year while staying in Destin reading the number of handguns left behind in hotels, condos and other rentals. It was shockingly high

When I worked at maxwell/gunter rec area on Lake Martin they wasn't suppose to bring guns . We found five under the mattress. While I worked there . We turned them over to the Tallapoosa Sherif office
