Bitcoin crashed from 66,000 to 9,000 in one second last night before going back up, it still dropped back down 40k for a minute before going back up to the 60's but its still down around 61 right now. That was done by one person or group on the other side of the World who sold off over 400 BTC at one time. If you are playing with BTC be sure to keep it in the "just playing" category and dont rely on it for anything. If you do win big with it, then transfer the profits into something with less risk. https://www.zerohedge.com/crypto/bitcoin-flash-crashes-below-9000-bitmex-amid-tether-turbulence

I’m more scared of this bitcoin stuff than being thrown into a snake pit. I’ll just do something else if I ever get any money.

I have no idea. I have zero bitcoin and I do not mess with it. My belief is that bitcoin is actually a tax that is designed to pull excess currency out of the real economy. So I don't mess with it.
However, it is fascinating to see how much money is going into it and the only thing giving it value from the start is that somebody said "its math so its good".

My financial advisor told me that he might purchase some bitcoin for himself but never for his clients.

Our dollar is backed by 11 supercarriers, B2 bombers, Reaper drones, and the exportation of democracy.

Sort of. But that was the intended outcome when the dollar in its current form was created. If you haven't read "The Creature from Jekyll Island" you should. Our dollar was created as the primary fuel for the creation of a massive unbeatable military machine.

I know someone who got into Bitcoin when it was low and had his account hacked. "Mid-six figures" was how he described his lost. I suspect his actual lost was probably less than 100k that he put into and the mid six was the increased value, but still. It's a crazy game. I think I have $60 bucks in it at the moment.

Still wish I’d bought in when I first looked at it. $25 a coin. But I’d just read an article on billions being stolen by a hacker and thought no way am I getting into something that I don’t understand. If I’d just went ahead and invested 1K.

When BTC first came out, the only thing that kept me from putting money in it was the historical outcomes of people who tried to make their own currency. The government traditionally doesn't like competition. I figured it was a good way to end up with 9mm or 5.56 bullet in the nogg'n paid for by tax payers. I figured at best it would be a waste or money and time. I'm honestly surprised they have let go this long. But it is like gambling, there's a lot of bitcoin millionaires out there now. I don't think most of them have the sense to take that "wealth" and put it in something more stable like real estate or a business.

I don’t have any Bitcoin. But it’s weird people get so upset by it. Just don’t buy it and move on. Don’t have a hissy fit about it laugh

There is a show on Netflix called The New Americans : Gaming a Revolution that is interesting. Discussion about day traders and crypto currency. The allure to Crypto for some is the fact that it's a global digital "currency" that governments can't control. At least not at the moment. I don't really get it because it's not like I can walk into Piggly Wiggly and buy groceries with it. Seems more like a stock or commodity than currency.

Lots of online retailers take it , and other cryptocurrencies, now.

not just online. There are several national chain stores that will take it at the register.
