If I call him to me and he flies into a tree within range he’s getting shot at. If a dove lands on the ground within range he’s getting shot at. If a duck lands in the decoys because we aren’t paying attention he’s getting water whacked. All three are legal and I don’t feel like any “sportsmanship” rules are broken. But if you wouldn’t do those things, I get it and I wouldn’t think anything about it.

"way off" is a different definition for everyone

same as I saw a deer couldn't really tell what it was though.

Jerry had took a shot as he ran away

Wonder he didn't break a leg on him

What was really funnyish was Jerry had an old man with him that was one of the best or so rumor said. The old man had yelped in a box and nothing was happening so he was digging in his fanny pack for a special call. Always jerry saw 4 longbeards coming up the road towards them. Old man can’t hear so Jerry kept jabbing him. The old man looked up and the birds took off running back down the road. The old man fired both barrels and Jerry joined in. He said out of range but the old man was shooting buck shot. Lol. Never cut a feather. I asked why Jerry shot and he said he want gonna be left out.

I was surprised the old man didn’t killem all.

I’ve never read a game law in The Bible, as long as you follow the golden rule while dealing with fellow men. These man made laws will starve you to death if you let them. I would rather provide for my family and teach them the calm that comes with not having to rely on anyone else but their own self.

Those morning limb hopping gobblers are the worst birds to work imo. Esp when they limbhop around mid morning to find the hen instead of pitching down and walking. You have to be a slick sob to shoot a long beard off the roost in the morning before/during daylight.

There are several verses about obeying the gov't. Im not sure we get to choose unless it is against God's law.

Its hard to be honest as a turkey hunter. Multiple times in my life i hav spoke of turkeys gobbling and details and each time it worked out very horribly meaning i could not hunt the turkeys any more cause somebody was there (the person i told). So i never ever tell anymore - thats not unchristian - thats just shrewd/wise

If i asked if i heard a gobble and this is when i had spots - man its a tuff season - been so long since i worked a bird - or i heard one gobble one time way across the line

Its how u survive. But now my spots usually suck so bad - i dont hav to give vague answers 🤣🤣. I did get to work about 5 birds last year in bama - 3 of them got shot so it was great year for me. For multiple years now i had stretches where i heard zip on my land for about 20 straight hunts

I’m an old school purist, kill ‘em the way they were meant to be killed. Call ‘em up with your back against a tree and shoot ‘em. I have zero respect for blind/chufa patch hunters. When it comes to youth, my Facebook gets littered with 5 year olds who killed a bird from a blind with a .410 on a vice with dad watching the red dot on his phone. That’s a whole different problem. I guess In the end you do you cause you’re gonna do it anyway.

That’s #3 on the turkey hunting commandments.

#1. Never let a dead turkey walk off no matter whose feelings it may hurt.
#2 Don’t spook the turkey.
#3 I ain’t heard nothing and I ain’t see nothing…..not even a track.

"Some men are mere hunters; others are turkey hunters."

This is me. I learned at 8 yo to call and hunt without a pad…no blind nor decoy. I love it. Yeah I’ll belly crawl to circle one or to slip up a tree. I fully plan on introducing my son to it the same way…sure we will spook a bunch of birds but he will be a much better hunter and woodsman at the end of it.
