SUX!
From their QC to customer service, they SUCK!
I ordered a shotgun tap. It was supposed to be ground .795-44 TPI. Instead it was .795-22 TPI.
After a test cut I realized it wasn't right
.
So, I call them, was promised a call back - that I never got - Because the one person that could help me "is never at his desk"...(direct quote from the girl I talked to.)
I call them again today, finally get to talk to "the guy" and am told to return it and they'd make it right.
I asked if they had one that was correct I could order while this one was on its way back....They didn't know.
Me: Can someone check?
Them: No, he's not at his desk...(I'm now talking to the girl who originally answered the phone) mad

So I said screw it, I'll buy one from someone else and asked if I had to cover shipping since it was their screw up.
Yep, their postage label printer is broke and doesn't send email the labels correctly ... At this point I felt like I was ordering a milkshake from McDonalds!

Had a buddy that tried to warn me about them, but until now, other than slow order processing, I'd had no problems.
Trying to save a couple bucks cost me way more.
I. Am. Done. With PTG!

100% unequivocally agree! Nothing is ever in stock, despite saying it is and they take FOREVER to ship. Plus, they charge you everything up front even if it isn't in stock and may be months before it ships. Never again PTG!!!

They are as bad as the internet reviews say they are. They let me down big time last year on delivery dates on an "in stock " item ( it wasn't ).Then when the order arrived ( A stainless model 7 action ) it had corrosion all over it. I went back and forth with them about it for weeks but it was a black hole inside a black hole and I finally gave up.

Another one on my list is Wilson Combat. "in stock" really means "wait 3 months". Also, customer service is handled by computer generated email's.and not an actual person. They won't cancel an order, even if it wasn't in stock, etc. They make a decent product but their customer service is hot garbage.

The internet reviews are not good for PT&G, but I've had good service from them on a handful of transactions, mostly for bottom metal and a couple other items.

I'd suggest contacting a big machine shop or tool & die shop and ask them where they get specialty taps made. I don't have the contacts anymore since I retired , but we had a couple of places that would make custom endmills and taps , from mild to wild.

I called Manson Precision and got the correct one on the way.
It cost more than PTG but they seem to know what they are doing ...at least the guy I talked to seemed to know what he was doing anyway

Well, you just ensured that you will be let down.

In all seriousness, there aren't many good retailers with decent customer service left.

PTG used to be the best years ago
Sad to read theyve fallen from grace
Thanks for the info

WOW! Just saw this! So AU338MAG got it right about the Remington piece and that was for Gundoc as an ongoing joke.

Now for you 3%. I have no idea what you are talking about nor do I know who you are!?!? I didn’t send anything on this thread for you! But…..

First of all, my mother has dementia and lives in a retirement community so I am guessing that the only way you could get your noodle smoked is by an 85 year old woman with dementia!

Second response is that I didn’t go to school at Hoover or Mountain Brook or Homewood. However, I do live in Hoover now. My boys did go to Hoover however and win several state championships while there. I guess that is what you are referring to on my tag line. And yes I am proud of them and their achievements in life. They are both men, working on there own.

Another interesting point is my Dad died when I was 19. Worked landscape and construction to get through college. Everything I have, I earned myself. Hard work, determination, and a goal to make something for myself is how I got it all. No one gave me anything. So yes, I have a big house in a golf community, a lake house, several cars, boats, ATVs and other toys. But it doesn’t make me any better than anyone else. It’s just stuff. Can’t take it with you. So whatever insecurities you have about growing up poor and maybe even still being poor? Grow up!

Finally. If you would like to take a shot at the title. I will give you my address, Hell, just come on over. Leave the cell phone at home. Might want to get someone to drive you home though when we are done.

Big talk doesn’t make a big man. Douchebag!

Yeah BB, I caught it! rofl

Your experience with Remington reminds me of something that happened to a buddy with a Taurus. However, to be fair, Tuarus did offer another gun under warranty. Although it was a 9mm when the gun with the problem was a 45 ACP.

I have to agree with your assement too..
