Didn’t see how they would allow it across the board. Never would happen that way. Heard rumble made an offer. Rumble and Elon are in the discussion for sure, so is Trump. But the reality is that TikTok will become a fully operational government company that the political class will control. TikTok will make a handful of people a lot of money and then because its run by assholes it will fall apart shortly after the fast easy money is made. A lot of investors who hold to long will lose bigly.

I still have not figured out what the word actually means in Arabic, but the word Aldeer comes up as some kind of common Arabic thing when you search it on Google (it probably means "group of angry white men").

And the Patriot act was for.... Unless you are wiring money overseas the only consequence of the patriotic act for most citizens was having to show ID to open a bank account. I think what bothers people about the patriotic act is the pre-text for it. I'm fairly certain Tik Tok is a tool of the Chinese government to demoralize, confuse, and control a large portion on our population. I was on there briefly a couple of years ago and it had me pegged in weeks as a single middle-aged guy. Every other video was some bearded dude in his truck about to blow his brains out complaining about his ex wife and kids. You think that happened by accident and the 14 year old boy gets nothing but videos telling him to put on a dress and chop off his weiner? Tik Tok is Tokoyo Rose on roids.

The Patriot Act is its own thread and then some. It never should have happened.

Its a bad bill.
It gives the president authority to remove apps or anything that they consider negative.
No checks and balances.
How long before they deem Twitter/x as one of those offenders? I’ll bet as soon as they get the control to do so.
Government controlled state media and internet is what they want that way they can control the narrative and anything they deem as a “dangerous” for any reason.

It actually goes a lot deeper than a psyop which I agree it’s doing everything you talk about above but there’s a reason you can’t put it on government machines and it’s not because of the content on it I can assure you.

It's a good bill. It is limited to any apps that have over 1 million active users, and is ultimately controlled by a FOREIGN adversary as defined by law which at this time is China, Iran, Russia, I believe. Aldeer is safe unless it's secretly owned by Ayatollah. The Freedom Caucus is just trying to be libertarian purists and point out no one in Congress had a problem with TikTok until all the kids started going pro-Palestine and hurting the Israel cash gravy train. This is a huge problem for the democrats. If they lose the election they will blame TikTok for pissing off the young voters about Biden's support for Israel.
I 100% disagree. This is just another bill to censor free speech. They will use it to force Elon to sell twitter and then they can censor again. Censorship of anyone that allows free speech is what this is about.

Since Elon is an American citizen and not a foreign adversary. I dont see how they can ban him and I dont think thats the objective. no doubt. But is it unchecked? According to several people, there are safe guards. I am skeptical of government narrative, but shouldn't we also be skeptical of pollical and media narratives. People keep talking about free speech. Is the Chinese government known for their free speech? Its one of the most censored countries in the world.

Like I've said before the litmus test for any legislation is:
Do you want your worst enemy to have control over that law?
If the answer is "NO!" then it shouldn't be a law.

Trump is against this bill.
which is weird when he also said this 4 years ago specifically about TikTok "Specifically, the spread in the United States of mobile applications developed and owned by companies in the People’s Republic of China (China) continues to threaten the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States. At this time, action must be taken to address the threat posed by one mobile application in particular, TikTok." https://trumpwhitehouse.archives.go...ve-order-addressing-threat-posed-tiktok/when he passed an EO to ban TikTok how do you explain that?

Yup.
The bill specifically calls out foreign adversary controlled as the qualifier.
In one or two sentences, but deep in the bill is stuff about "qualified exceptions" and other fun things that will let the government shut down internet talk they do not like. Its a bad bill and all they are doing is using TikTok as an excuse to gain control over free speech. Tik Tok can be brought under control in better ways. Exactly. I dont care if I ever look at tik tok again but you cant just let the government shut something down......when has the democratic run government ever been worried about our safety or someone spying on us?? We fund other peoples wars and leave our military equipment in other countries for them to use at will.....
