Damnit. I know a thing or three about how the Indians used and ate darters and small minnows. If you like sardines, tell me this don't sound good. I might try it with Sardines one day, but I have been saying that for 20 years.
They used to be so plentiful that Indians could scoop them right out of the water in a cup, press them between big green leaves just enough to push the guts out of them, then wash the mess off. After that they would give the minnows a quick dusting of cornmeal, then flash frying them in a basting of chestnut oil and eat them like a taco or burrito in a hand ground corn tortilla. U got me interested now

I’d like me one of them Indian woods creek fish tacos! Sounds delicious 😋

I know of a couple very small and very cold creeks that have a fish in them I’ve never seen anywhere else.

Pretty sure that’s what halted the Hydroelectric dam at Memphis. If memory serves the endangered snail darter halted construction (at least for a time) at the Toyota plant in Greenbrier. I assume they found a work-around.
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...

I assume they found a work-around. The work arounds for most things on the ESA or the NHPA can be done at minimal cost and time these days. In that case, the Toyota plant was held up because of an unknown cemetery that had to be relocated, much more common than you think, but it costs about as much time or effort as any other engineering or construction hold up because of a weather problem or an equipment failure. The real hold ups tend to come with FERC and the upper administration side of the EPA and NPS.

We can work through ESA and 106 issues but wetland permitting without a solid alternatives analysis is a project killer. I have gone through 1 section 106 excavation and even had a few burials we relocated. Most clients do not have the patience.
