I have dunstan chestnut seedlings in tree pots that are 15-18" tall and are ready to go in the ground now or you can keep them watered in pots if you want to plant later. They are strong, fast growing trees that often produce nuts in 5 years. This stock had 30% produce at 3 years & 60% 4 years!! Best planted in groups of 5 (for pollination and nut production) with 25' spacing.

$20 each in quantities of 5-25, $15 each in quantities of 25-60, and $10 ea. in quantities of 60 or more.
I also have packs of 30 seeds ready to pot. (or you can plant them after the last frost)

These are 15/16th American chestnut/Chinese hybrids. They have been pruned and well maintained all year. The tree pots are great because they take up very little space (14 fit in a 5-gallon bucket) and don't require you to dig a big hole at planting. These tree pots also "air prune" the roots which stops the taproot from J-rooting like you see in standard pots. Put these trees in the ground and they will be 5-6' tall next year at this time.

Chestnuts are delicious, you'll have to fight the deer over them. Great food plot tree...make your own hunting spot. I recommend using a 4' diameter cage to keep deer off of them (they'll eat the tops out come fall).

Burr and Nuts

You wouldn't happen to know anyone around the Montgomery area selling them would you? I live in Central AL and would love to have a few of them....

Question-Once mature and producing nuts, do the balls have stickers all over them. The reason I am asking is I planted some about 20 years ago and I cut them down because the stickers were as bad as Locust thorns to flatten a tractor tire.

I can ship bareroot trees no problem. They can be kept moist and in the fridge for weeks if you can't plant them right away.

Yes these produce a spiky burr that the nuts fall out of, but nothing that would puncture a tire.

They get big. Plan on them getting as big as our largest oaks

I have some and run over the spikes all the time with anything from tractor s to go carts. No flats yet. I won’t pick one up though. They will hurt your hand

Yes, I can ship a 30 pack TYD for $65. They have been cold stratified in the fridge since November and are sprouting now. They can be potted up and planted in the fall or planted after our last frost.

I'll likely have some next year too with raising from seeds my trees produce. This is a fun gig my kids and I do. They learn a bit about hard work and nature and get to make some of their own money this way too.

Yes, 14 of them fit upright in a 5 gallon bucket perfect. That way the can easily be kept watered until a fall planting. There's still plenty of room in the pots for the taproot to develop.

That's right. I added a pic of the burr and nuts produced from my trees this year. Sometimes the nuts fall out of the burr on their own and sometimes they hold on and the burr drops out with them. Deer just paw and stomp them out of the burrs.
