Thinking about going to a concert there in May. Anything I should know IRT parking or safety? May bring my 12 year old grandson. Thanks.

Completely fine and safe. Downtown Birmingham is really nice and safe. The problem is “Birmingham” gets grouped in with Ensley, woodlong, Bessemer and the likes. Downtown is absolutely safe and fine. Enjoy with your boy

Big spoon creamery is a good spot near Avondale. While it's Avondale I'd tote my pistol just in case. Course I tote my pistol to the mailbox just in case.
Skinny is my EX.Alcohol was involved.

We parked at the church across the road - I think people were scared to park there - but it was available apparently and no problem.

I’d imagine there will be plenty of law enforcement present in/around event but I’ve never been there personally.

My son has been to two concerts there in the last year or so. Park in open, stay in groups, all good.

Never had any issues in that area. Avondale has really changed for the better over the last several years. Just realize this is a pocket that has gotten better but not far away is the typical Birmingham issues. So crossover crime does happen.

This is the same place that bowed to the woke crowd and cancelled a scheduled Ted Neugent concert.
Jus sayin.

If you stay right in the area where the brewing company is you will be alright. It’s the outlier areas like the Avondale Park that’s sketchy. I went and seen Blackberry Smoke a few years ago and the haze of smoke from weed was thick in that courtyard so be cognizant of that with your grandson.

Been down there MANY times, walked the streets, ate at the restaurants, drank in the bars, listened to music, never took my pistol, or just left it hidden in the truck. It's a well established entertainment district. You won't have a problem unless you and some drunk patron get into a dust up.

BC, May 3rd, same band! lol Good point.
