I'd support rifle hunting for turkeys in the month of Nov with a 1 bird limit. Seems like a natural cultural right to be able to eat a self killed wild turkey for Thanksgiving.

Back in the 70's several counties down south had a fall turkey season. There were many turkeys killed for Thanksgiving during this period and most were killed with a rifle! Those were the good ole days.

Spending quality time with my old man. We lost our lease so have been fixing up a decrepit cabin (further than the old lease) on a few acres plus have been able to get permission on some other land nearby. He's in his late 70s but sounds like a kid when he gets something done at the cabin. Can't wait for it to be ready to go.

Also really enjoy just being in a tree in the woods at sunrise. Helps put life in perspective.

I enjoy getting ready for season as much if not more fun than hunting. I spend a lot of time and money and if get a chance to kill one decent buck I’m happy. I actually really enjoy running cameras and just seeing what’s out there, where they’re going and how they act. It’s not about the kill for me it’s about the hunt.

I’m trying to give my son a life of fulfillment and memories

I want him to see deer and hear turkey often and have a chance at em make him happy.

I want him to enjoy a good camp life and have fun being a young man with his pops.

I want him to learn life lessons along the way.

I want him to get the highs and lows can life deals to you often experience with hunting.

I want him to remember and cherish our time together on my last days and hopefully until his, just like I will.

If he’s my trigger man I don’t care if I kill another one, it’s funny how the answer had changed with time.

Yep but remember it’s all the out of staters breaking game laws and being blood thirsty killers. Resident hunters are not the problem. loco

James I didn’t mean I had a problem with it. I just meant you didn’t have to wait on a fall season to become law. You could just freeze a spring turkey to cook in the fall. Don’t have to kill one illegally to have it for thanksgiving. You can still have the good ole days now. A wild turkey for thanksgiving.

I would hope for the exact same type of season every year the rest of my life and I’d be fine. To ask for any more would be selfish and dreaming in my eyes. I am not and never will be the type of guy who goes two years and never pulls the trigger because I enjoy killing deer. I enjoy others who come hunting with me, when they kill deer. When I was a kid we dog hunted and I got JUST as excited when I heard someone else shoot.
Back when the Roost was in operation I remember reading on their web site or pamphlet that they specialize in 16” deer that will put a smile on anyone’s face. That stuck with me and I’m still that way. Why has that changed for so many people, and why is it so important to push that same philosophy on everyone else?
This year made me happy! One of our best imo!
We did 3 euro mounts and no head mounts, and we’re all fine with that.

Had a similar season last year, which mad this past season terrible
Still had fun but we shot 0 bucks as we had killed all the mature ones the last yr.

We still have a fall Turkey season in Monroe county. I enjoy watching and taking bets on wether we’ll see any of the resident birds during those open dates. And year after year, they disappear like a fart in the wind until New Year’s Day.

I bought a three bbl German drilling 16X16X9.3x72 just for turkeys when deer hunting . Killed exactly ONE gobbler with the 16ga bbl. Ha! Killed several deer with the rifle bble, inc a nice Fallow Buck.

Does the landowner next to you get to tell you what you can shoot if you are leasing 300 acres. Landowner doesn't own the deer. Landowner is just as likely to be a brown an down as a leaser. Vice versa.

No. Neither one of them own the deer so neither of them have that right.

What the heck are you talking about man?

He doesn't own all the deer that wander over his land. One landowner with your mindset could kill most of the deer on 1,000 acres by owning 100 acres. That is why there is regulations, seasons.

I don't shoot many deer. Heck I haven't shot anything in the last two seasons. Had plenty of opportunities, but elected to pass and just enjoy the moment.
What does it for me at this point in my life is just being out there and having quality hunts. Seeing deer be deer. If that makes any sense.
