I got 25 hens that I get pictures of nearly everyday here in Jackson county. 2 big gobblers strutting all through them this morning. Maybe they will push season on back till mid April

seems like we have 3 or 4 of these same threads every single year, but it seems like most seasons work out the same, with folks killing them all throughout season like normal.

I don’t so much about that. Some years are easier than others year before last I killed 3 quick. My daughter 2 and my son-in-law one . We spent the rest of the year hunting 1 old bird and passed on several. Last year we killed 1 apiece and heard hardly anymore because they had done their thing early

The rut is early this year. I saw a big wad of hens with 3 Gobblers a couple days ago.

Same story different year. Gobblers strut all the time. It doesn’t mean the hens are ready and willing

ive got pics of gobblers strutting with hens in nov, dec, and jan. the one thing that is a 100% certainty is hens will not breed until the length of actual daylight is right

IE photoperiodism. Which is scientific fact. It simply does not change from year to year with any level of significance.

correct.. they can strut until they have no more wings and gobble till they lose their voice, but until the actual length of daylight is right aint none of them breeding

That’s the same thing they say for deer and the timing of the rut. Majority of the country the rut is mid November. Isn’t it wild how majority of Alabama is January, Mississippi is December and Georgia is November.

I think yall missed my point. And maybe didn’t understand my joke of them opening season later. If you think it doesn’t make it harder to kill one I guess you are a better turkey hunter than I am

it should in reality make it easier to kill one. the girls may be close to being done but the boys still want some action.. if a love suck tom hears a seductive hen(you) then he should come running to you

That’s the same thing they say for deer and the timing of the rut. Majority of the country the rut is mid November. Isn’t it wild how majority of Alabama is January, Mississippi is December and Georgia is November.

But if you look at where the deer were restocked from you’ll see the rut timing to be very similar. Those timings were for best survivability for the fawns. Places where traditional flooding occurred the rut timing changed.

Considering these restockings are in a short time frame nothing has changed as of yet.

Studies have been done so maybe one of the bios can explain it better.
