I thought I heard most were made in the US (some in Japan), but recently they have shifted more production to china. Dont take that as gospel, but Im pretty sure that is why a local shop that caters to loggers stopped carrying echo. I think the same thing happened when Makita's purchase of dolmar (early 90s). They kept dolmar in Germany for a long time, but Ive heard some of the dolmar branded saws have been shifted to China just like Echo.

Im sure some Echo saws are still good, but I dont know which ones.

I have an Echo 400 and a pole saw. They're ok saws, but aren't as good as the Stihl's or Husqvarna's. I bought it to keep in the truck. If it is stolen, it's easy to replace.

I don't know about their saws, but I have a Echo backpack blower that I bought new in 2004.
It fires up and runs everytime and I've done nothing but put gas in it when it runs out.
That says a lot since I only use it once a year to blow leaves for 3 days and the gas sits there and get old.

I do use non ethanol fuel and Stihl 2 cycle oil

asked Google:

The plant in Qingdao, China, is the second largest production site within the STIHL Group and covers a wide range of products: In addition to chainsaws, the plant manufacturers brush cutters and hedge trimmers for the global market.

I would only buy a professional model myself either a Sthil or Husq. I am not even trying to save $500 on a chainsaw... I don't have time for it not to work. It's like when you can only fish 5 times during the summer and you have a boat motor that is a piece of junk. You spend all Saturday driving to the lake just to fork around with the boat motor instead of catching fish... Nope. I ain't got time for that. Some people do I reckon but that isn't me. I'll spend the money necessary to make sure I can get the job done when I need it done.

I've had a CS-560 i think for about 15or16 years and have cut tons of firewood, still cranks and runs like a new one.

I keep a good sized Husqvarna as a firewood saw, and bought a little Echo (CS 372?) as a limbing saw for clearing trails, sight lines, shooting lanes, etc. Have been very satisfied with it.

They're great saws. They're the same as Shindiawa just a different color. The cs590s are a beast and made better than the smaller ones. Or you can go to Shindiawa dealer and pay extra for the comercial versions. The dealer caries both residential and commercial.

Echo straight shaft weed eaters are weak for my liking, I tried the home Depot version and wound up going with a big commercial grade shindiawa. Had it 4yrs and it's a beast.

I have had multiple echo saws and blowers. I still love my Stihls better. I have a few commercial Husqvarna saws cause I got them dirt cheap but again, I will always buy Stihl first.

Whatever you do, don't buy a Stihl weed eater unless it's bigger than the FS56. The 56 is junk and won't last over a few years..mine broke after a year. Them bigger stihls are made better.

zero issues, rip the screen out of the muffler to prevent down the road issues and try to use non ethanol with your mix

2511-t. most useful little saw ever made

Exho makes two models too, the x series is their commercial grade. It's all I own, good stuff. Still has been junk for a long time

I have Echo weedeaters, edger combo I love, just seems to me the Stihl runs a little more efficiently.

Older Stihl are gold though compared to NEW

In the mid 80s we ran an Stihl 034 and I bought it from my boss later in. Had that thing up until a few years ago hen a guy offered 100 for it. Parts are almost impossible to find is why I sold it. Ran solid for years. I replaced it with a Stihl 261 which is comparable and a commercial saw. Still have a 291 I bought, guess it’ll crank.

Came close to buying an other brand but don’t know enough about them.

I own a top handle arbor saw from Echo and it's been a great little saw for trimming.

Saw runs great. Put a new chain on it and went to work Saturday. Yes, I can feel it.
