Replaced old bulb trailer lights. The old lights had 2 wires; left was yellow and brown and right was brown and green. The new lights are leds. They came with same 2 wires on each side but also had a third wire (white) for ground. Hooked everything up and everything works except left turn signal. I turn on head lights and turn on left turn signal and both trailers lights start blinking. This was done hooked up to a Ram 3500. All connections check out to include grounds. I hooked it up to my jeep and they work as they should. Any suggestions or solutions greatly appreciated. FYI I hooked my truck up back to boat trailer to check if they would work and boat trailer works as it should.

I have issues with trailer on my Ram 2500. Break lights work, turn signals work, no running lights when headlights on. Trailer is brand new.

well if they came with the same two wires on each side then that's your problem. I just installed a set of led s from harbour freight and each side came with a different color wire. or maybe your jeep is wired right and your truck is wrong. but I would do an internet search for you trailer connector electrical diagram and then compare the two vehicles with a volt meter and your turn signal on.

I was meaning the new ones had the same wires as the old ones…….plus the white ground

Start at the receptacle on the back of the truck with a test light and work your way back. I’m assuming the trailer light connection is a flat 4 prong?

Use this or a multi-meter to determine when the brake lights lead and the turn signal lead.

The wire harnesses that come with trailer light "sets" are usually junk and corrode pretty quickly. I bought some "tinned" wire and made my own. Have lasted several years now without attention.

Glad you got it figured out. I was rewiring a horse trailer for a friend, and got called away in the middle of it. Came back and unknowingly swapped the running light lead and ground at the trailer connector. Backfed LED lights will do some super weird stuff. I was scratching my head trying to figure out the issue and called a buddy for a fresh set of eyes. He took a quick look and the ground wire that I was so certain was ground, was not.

Don’t ever hook up the electric brake wire to the turn signal!!! That thing will go to hopping on you!!

I run numerous trailers for one of my businesses. Always having to do something on them light wise. Its a pain in the ass.

Everything checked out from the truck harness back to the trailer. Bought another set of lights and good to go. I believe the power wire on the left light inside the was not making good contact
