You cannot have cell cams on WMA’s during turkey season.

Click HERE to read it on the outdoor Alabama website

(ll) For any unauthorized person to possess or use any game camera/device capable of monitoring remotely and/or capable of automatically transmitting photos and/or videos from March 1 - May 31 on any AREA without first obtaining written permission from the Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division.

So what do they do if a game warden runs across a camera? Take it? If so, shouldn’t that be considered theft of property?

So if I’m traveling from my house to Wal Mart through Chocolocco, I’m not supposed to possess a turkey call or cell camera?? LOL!! Just more reasons for me NOT to hunt public land!

As explained by a GW last week, if it is left on public land it is or has become public property.

Ethically wrong but legally no recourse

Does that apply to ladder and climbing stands? I can just take it since it’s public property. I’m being sarcastic, but just showing how stupid this rule is. Ethically wrong but if caught I’m sure you could be charged with theft of property if whatever you find doesnt belong to you.

That’s what makes no sense. Someone can take my vehicle if it’s parked on public property? I know it’s a risk leaving hunting gear on public land, but I don’t see why it suddenly becomes fair game to take.

Just playing the other side - if you put a ladder, climber or cell cam on John Doe’s property - and leave it unattended - John now owns it.

Don’t blast me too hard - I know there’s a difference - slightly grin

That’s just stupid and maybe depending on if they are an ass or not may be one of those rules that they don’t really enforce. I don’t know but that’s crazy.

Yes. They said to leave nothing in the woods. If it is on public left in the woods it could be considered abandoned.

I agree it’s A grey area, but the way they explained it Owner has no legal recourse, regs say not to leave them in the woods.

Your vehicle is legally titled, registered and insured, thus you have legal recourse.

According to a screenshot of messages with Alabama wildlife and fisheries division this rule was adopted because

“People are watching live feed of game or getting live notifications of when to go in and take game”

I wonder if this is a test run to see if this is something they would implement state wide

Game cameras have always be prohibited on all state WMAs and NWRs here in Louisiana period. I guess every state is different. I’d be to worried about someone taking my camera to put one on public ground.

Was very happy to see them make the post on FB and lol'd @ their hashtag

"#actuallyhunttheturkey"

Hopefully they work towards banning cell cams year round on public next.

You also cannot use turkey calls or locator calls on WMO until season. So no practicing out there guys.

God I hope so! That is about the most pathetic way to kill a turkey ever conceived. Might be worse than reaping.
