For those of you who think that the Feb extension should be gotten rid of in Zone A….. I’m curious how you would propose doing that…….Are you just taking 10 days away from Zone A and leaving everything else alone……meaning that Zone B has a longer season??

Yep. I couldn’t care any less about having the same number of days as other zones.

You may be ok with it but do you think the majority of hunters in Zone A will be ok with having days taken away that the other zones dont??......Also, how is it going to impact Zone B for the last 10 days when a mass amount of hunters from Zone A head south to the WMA’s or their buddies club where the season is still open??......These 10 days already account for a major portion of the harvest in south Alabama

I don’t see that being the case honestly. I have not talked to a single hunter who cares if south AL has more days to hunt and I also don’t know anyone who drives from Zone A to hunt in Zone B with any regularity. Rifle season is too long regardless of what zone we are discussing anyway.

I like the Feb extension. Nobody makes people hunt everyday of the season or any day at all. I've had better success with it.

I don’t know…..most anytime I’ve seen someone mention shortening gun season people start hollering about taking away opportunities….. and you know how people can be…..the first thing they’ll do is point their finger and say…. “Why do those guys get a longer season than I do?”

There’s actually quite a bit of hunters down here from north Alabama…….Sand Mountain hunting club is in Macon Co…or was until a couple years ago……..I’ve run across a good many from the B’Ham area and Anniston as well……Zone A extends all the way down to Montgomery as well so were talking about a lot more than just hunters in the northwest corner….…What I figure would happen would be that in the years to come folks who hunt in Zone A would start planning annual Zone B trips with their buddies in the final 10 days …….Folks would start plotting on ways to keep hunting…….You might be talking about bumping up the harvest down here another notch as a result……Like I was saying this is already the time when folks are taking their vacations and slaying ‘em down here. Just something to think about…….

I know the 2nd to last gun hunt at Lowndes it was packed with people who had travled from North Al that came down for the gun hunts. I myself am thinking about going to Bankhead next season for the October 1st bow opener.

If A wants the Feb extension gone let them. B should have shifted their start date 10 days forward starting with bow, and not the whole bucks only idea.

shoot at least it’s an escape for some, I just chimed in to comment at how are state agency is terrible. They shut down comments on Facebook after me and some others called them out. Nothing they do is backed in studies or science.
