Any of yall ever dealt with this? How long did it take to get it in remission? Any lasting effects from the long term corticosteroid use?

Long term corticosteroid use is not a good thing. In general they weaken your immune system, especially over long use.

PR is an auto immune problem and I would highly recommend a Rheumatologist. Will probably take about 6 months to get in and see one.

I think that Jim Shockey was just diagnosed with it. Stated that he was told it was most likely from a tick bite and the disease stated had lied dormant in his system for a while and stress brought it out. (His wife just died from lung cancer around the same time).

Shockey is from Canada and with the tyrant Trudeau, I would be willing to bet that Shockey was vaccinated and that played a role in his firing up as well. I do know he has mentioned getting IV infusions of IgG, IgA, IgM or some other immunoglobulin to help with it.

My daughter had all these symptoms and many more after a tick bite. She had a pick line for three months plus many other treatments and twenty years later is still having physical issues but is much better. Believe it or not, going gluten free instantly took away her joint/body pain and her daily headaches.

I was diagnosed with it about 4 months ago and the Rheumatologist put me on Prednisone which stopped the pain within 12 hrs. They are now trying to taper my dosage each month with varying degrees of success. Ive gained @ 30# at this point and starting to notice some of the other side effects. Just wondering if anybody had personal experience with how long it really takes to be able to get off this medicine. The Dr said usually 1-2 years but could be a little less or a lot more. There is a new medicine out that you can give yourself as an injection every 14 days that is supposed to have a lot fewer side effects, but the cost is astronomical. Even though my insurance would pay most of the cost, I would rather give the steroids a try first.

As weatherby stated long term steroid usage is not a good thing with many side effects.

I’d try to seek alternatives treatment for long term use that lessen or alleviate for your symptoms.

Long term steroid use is bad for you from head to toe. I feel bad for anyone who must take them. I would strongly suggest trying other treatments along with diet modification as Peach mentioned.

Did your DR. discuss the risk of Temporal Arteritis that some PMR patients can develop?

This, if any way possible.
My Mother was on, more than off of, Prednisone for almost 40 years (Lupus) and it wrecked her body, rest her soul.

Yes. He said any change in vision or temporal headaches come in immediately or go to the hospital.
